Great Hotel for Santo Domingo
Great hotel for Santo Domingo. Highly recommend upgrading accommodations to Executive level - great price - great value - great executive lounge. The breakfast at the Hilton is also excellent. The only caution I have is that the taxi drivers at the hotel prefer to charge in U.S. dollars, not Dominican pesos, and they also charge you 4-5 times what you would be charged if you called a taxi service. They will take advantage of the ignorant foreign tourist if they can.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
Be aware that the malecon, George Washington Ave, is not a safe place to walk at night. While staying at the Hilton one evening, I was going to walk to the Vesuvio restaurant - only about a block away - when I was stopped and warned to take a car, even for a block, as there have been muggings along the malecon in the evening.

Stellar Hotel
In the Dominican for business with weekends off -- stayed at the Hilton for the weekend. Everything was excellent form the food to the staff to the room. Highly recommend it
