Itll Do
San Francisco is ALWAYS expensive. Motels are no exception. Beach motel is good for those who wish to be financially frugall, but dont wish to stay near the airport. Cleanliness was so-so. It just seemed old. Wallpaper was peeling. The bed seemed rickety. But, there was a pleasant little skylight in the bathroom. Expect the noise, and vibration, of the public transit trains throughout the day and most of the night. I suppose it added a touch of city atmosphere. If youre gone all day, this motel shouldnt be a problem. Ocean Beach is just a few minutes away as well as a convenience store and a handful of restaurants.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Despite a somewhat quiet location, its far from basically all "tourist sites", except for the Golden Gate Park. Try taking the transit "Muni", or rent a car. Geary Boulevard is probably your fastest route to the other end of the peninsula where most of the attractions exist.

Do not stay here!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for the first time and it was horrible. On the website they claim to have free parking for their customers. When we pulled into the "parking lot" there was about 10 spaces and they were all taken. We had to drive around a 5 mile radius for 20 minutes looking for somewhere to park. There was nothing. We finally got lucky and someone pulled out of a spot. When we walked up and rang to night bell at the window someone didnt come up until about 10 minutes later. The man who gave us our key was very rude to us and actually yelled us as that there was no smoking in the rooms. When we got the our room, which was very tiny, I walked into the bathroom and there was no curtain or blinds in the window! We didnt even have a way to put anything up. For the amount we paid for this room, I could have stayed somewhere futher away from the zoo (our plans for the next day) and probably would have been much more happier. Do not stay here. Your better off paying a little more to stay somewhere better.

Just a room
This hotel is close to the beach and San Francisco State University. We were there for a graduation, so it was convenient and affordable for us. There is a great Indian restaurant close by (Golden Gate Indian Cuisine and Pizza!). Our room was very small...just enough space for a queen bed. It was old and dingy. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and television with cable, but no coffee maker, room service or continental breakfast (there was a very good 7-11 two blocks away). The door had a very new lock on it, but let the wind come howling through. The bathroom had a lovely skylight, but no mirror over the vanity or exhaust fan. And apparently this hotel has never heard of a drought...the shower head shot out water like a fire hose! We would not choose this hotel again.
