Great stay in Paradise.

Hotel provided a full breakfast, snacks and drinks at night. Could not have asked for a better buy.

Very nice hotel

Custom Breakfast was great, as well as Managers reception each day. Room was clean and comfy. Expensive daily parking was the only draw back and early daily road construction behind hotel...nothing to do with hotel though

Would Go Back Again

Checked into the hotel late at night, but the clerk at the Front Desk was still alert, lively, and quite polite. Check in was a breeze, but parking was difficult. Room was spacious and comfortable as usual with the Embassy Suites. Bed was very comfortable, and slept like a baby. The only complaint would be the chaos at breakfast, but I guess that is to be expected. The breakfast was worth it though. Overall, well worth the money

Traveler's tip on shopping

Try to get to breakfast early!

Great Hotel

This was my first stay at an Embassy Suites hotel and I can say I was very pleased with the spacious accommodations and the overall appearance and quality of the property. I am a meeting planner by profession and have experienced many fine 4 and 5 star hotels and resorts. I would definitely recommend the Ft. Lauderdale Embassy Suites and would stay there again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The Ft. Lauderdale Embassy Suites on Seventeenth Street is well located to many area attractions and particularly for people taking cruises as it is close to the port facility. The value for your money is great--large sleeping rooms and excellent breakfast included.

I recommend this hotel!

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. The room is very comfortable and the accommodations of the hotel were very good. We enjoyed the hot breakfasts and the cocktails during "happy hour". The swimming pool, suana, and jacuzzi were all very relaxing. The hotel’s location is great! Close to the airport, beaches, waterway, restaurants, shopping, and night clubs.

Great location, nice place to stay

In a great location for anyone needing to stay local in Ft. Lauderdale before or after a cruise. Just a few minutes from the FTL airport, and very close to the entrance for Port Everglades. Plus many things well within walking distance from the hotel. The atrium lobby is very nice a social place to be in the AM and evenings.

Great overnight stop

The hotel was perfect for a one night stay before we left for a cruise the next day. It appears to be an older hotel, however, they do a fairly good job of maintaining it. The room was clean, but a little musty. The manager’s cocktail reception reminded me of a union meeting where all the guys gathered for free beer and chips before the meeting. This hotel is more on the classy side and could’ve come up with something a bit more appealing. My wife wouldn’t step foot in the room, even for a free glass of wine. What really surprised me is the lack of a shuttle service. Again, for a hotel on the classy side, along with a steep rate, you would think they would have a shuttle. Overall not a bad place.

Traveler's tip on dining

For a great steak, or any meal for that matter, go right across the street to a place called Chuck’s Steakhouse. Great food and salad bar. Also, go downtown and ride a river taxi up and down the river. Beautiful sights.

Hotel to Avoid

I called in advance to ask for an early arrival check-in and was told that this would not be a problem. We arrived at 11:30AM and had to wait til 3:45PM for our room, in warm winter clothing. The service by the pool was poor and the food came out to us cold. The advertised custom breakfast was serve yourself. I expect to be served in a dining room when on vacation especially at these prices. There are too many hotels in the area to ever consider this one again.

Overpriced

Most Embassy suites have a nice cocktail hour - this one had the drinks and wine, but the "hors d’oeuvres" amounted to popcorn. The full breakfast is a great touch but make sure they fully cook your eggs! Staff was very pleasant - Room is overpriced but large and has all the amenities.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

No savings here! 4 miles from airport - no free shuttle.

Not bad

Not bad for the money. Spacious rooms. Hotel looked a little dated. Restaurant was way too expensive for quality of the food. Good location. Nice Florida style.

Overpriced, bad breakfast, pay to park and for internet access.

Not worth the money. Overlooks giant oil tanker facility. Parking is high priced and you also must pay for internet access. Breakfast buffet is very forgettable. You can do much better for the same price or less in this same area.

Traveler's tip

Stay elsewhere.

Looking forward to staying here again.

We arrived early and our room was not ready but the desk clerk was pleasant and went out of her way to get our room ready and call our cellphone while we had lunch. The breakfast was great. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub area. I hope to bring some family members with us to this hotel when we visit Ft. Lauderdale next year. Excellent location.

Traveler's tip on dining

A little restaurant, Kelly’s Landing is just a few blocks away and had wonderful New England Clam Chowder and clam strips.

Was ther 5 years ago and love the way it has been upgraded.

The only dissapointing thing was the Happy Hour. We expected something more in the line of munchies like Chicago which has many different items available. All we recieved was pretzles and chips (which were stale) and popcorn.

There is a great new shopping center behind the Embassy Suites that has a grocery store etc.

Not the Classy Place it Used to Be

I’ve enjoyed staying at this hotel many times but won’t again. It simply isn’t the classy place it once was. The breakfast was the high point. But it seems to have become a center for rude, noisy raucaus activity. I could not use the business center because of misbehaved children shrieking at the computer. Several electric outlets didn’t work. In spite of the "do not disturb" sign while trying to get some sleep there was shouting and banging on my door. They no longer offer shuttle service to and from the airport. I was forced to take a cab that cost twice as much as the posted rates. It saddens me as this was one of my frequent favorites, but no more.

Great Ft. Lauderdale Hotel

The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The location is great - really close to the convention center, a few shops within walking distance, and public transportation available nearby. Definitely take advantage of the free breakfasts! Custom-made omelettes! The fitness room has plenty of machines and space for people who want to take advantage of it. Overall, I had a great stay and highly recommend the Embassy Suites.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Call the hotel ahead of time and ask the concierge for information on shuttles to/from the airport. The hotel doesn’t have their own service, but many private-run companies offer them for less than the price of a taxi.

Almost lived up to expectations

Our overall experience was a good one. The hotel pool was great - very warm and comfortable in a tropical setting with lots of trees and a waterfall. We always enjoy the breakfast and manager’s happy hour when we stay at Embassy Suites. This one was no exception. The hotel was a short drive from the beach and located near shopping, a grocery store, and many restaurants. The minuses were the construction in the dining room - to be completed fall 2008. There was some noise at the pool area from the work, but not in the hotel itself. The service was ok, but they couldn’t supply us with an extra pillow or bath towel when we asked. Hard to believe they couldn’t spare any in a hotel with hundreds of rooms. The hotel has a Koi pond with some large fish in it that were interesting to the kids. However, the hotel needs someone who knows ponds to come in and get it in shape. The water was so green with algae that the fish weren’t visible unless they were at the surface. Despite my negatives, I would stay again. The room was nice, the rates were reasonable, and we had a good time.

If you plan on visiting the beach, the parking is $10 minimum for each entry. If you bring plenty of quarters, you can find some cheaper meters. Bring your own beach umbrella and chairs or bring towels and find a shady spot (there are some under the palm trees). The city has rental umbrellas for $15/day and chairs for $10/day located along the shoreline. If you want to pick up and leave for a snack or a walk, you have to pay again when you come back.

Nice place to stay in a good location

The Embassy Suites was a very nice place to stay at prior to a cruise leaving from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. The location was perfect for that, but traffic could be a bit heavy at times trying to get back to the hotel’s only entrance for guest parking. While the overall hotel was very clean and obviously well kept, our room smelled heavily of smoke despite it supposed to be a non-smoking room. The hotel provided excellent services and facilities. It had a great courtyard and pool area that we enjoyed during our stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Hotel is located very close to Port Everglades making it a very conveinent place to stay before or after a cruise originating at the port.

Very convenient for the cruise ship

This was a clean, nice hotel with a quiet comfy room. The staff was cordial and helpful. It is a short distance from the cruise ships and we were able to take the shuttle.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There is a fantastic Cuban restaurant, Catalina that is well worth the trip. Also be sure to get a voucher for the shuttle or else it will be $7.50.
