Not Bad
You get what you pay for--the Meininger in Munich was an absolutely no frills hotel/hostel. But it was a decent place to bring three kids, and the location was convenient. We walked to the pedestrian area without complaint from my kids (8, 10, 14).

Would go back again.
Be sure to take a converter for electric. We forgot ours. Also there were no washcloths only towels. Overall it was a nice place and well worth the money and very accessible to public transportation.

A fine hostel
If you are a budget traveller, or travelling alone, staying at a hostel is a good way to save money on accomodations. The Meininger City Hostel was a good choice. We were four female adults spending time in Bavaria for the Christmas Markets. We shared a private room with 1 bunk bed and 3 twin beds. We had our own bathroom in the room with a shower. It was nice that the toilet and sink had a seperate door from the shower. One person good continue to get ready while another person showered. The location was very close to the S-Bahn station. We took the S-Bahn directly from the Munich Airport. It is about a 35-40 minute trip. Breakfast was the typical, bread, meats, cheeses, cereal, coffee and juice. The hostel also provided a free walking tour of Munich every morning. The staff was helpful and spoke very good English.
