Mabye the best overall hotel experience Ive ever had...
Im Irish with family in Derry and living in the US. Ive stayed at other hotels in the city but chose Da Vincis this time because I was home to visit a family member who is ill and this hotel is within walking distance of her home. I have to say its one of the best hotel experiences Ive ever had and Ive stayed in a lot of hotels in a lot of places over the years, trust me! The staff just couldnt be more helpful or pleasant. I fell and got a bad ankle sprain on this trip (not at the hotel)and had to spend 2 days in the room with my leg iced and elevated so that I could get on a plane. The staff came every few hours with ice, walked relatives who came to check on me to the room and really couldnt do enough to make me feel better. My sister had come up from the South and was staying in the hotel too and she loved it. My parents were also in town and we all ate at the bar a couple of nights and they were very impressed with the quality of the food, which belive me, when talking about my Dad is not an easy thing to do! The rooms and bathroom are spacious (especially for an Irish hotel), very clean and the location is perfect. Its less then five minutes walk to the river Foyle where you can take a lovely river path right into the city. Youre close to everything but not right in the city which is good because downtown has become a bit rough at night.
Traveler's tip on dining
Food in bar was excellent, not expensive, not too fancy, fresh local produce. Theres also a great supermarket not five minutes walk from the hotel where you can pick up room supplies.
