Good attention to Detail, Good Food

This hotel has clean rooms, good attention to detail. Hotel also has many types of comprehensive breakfasts, both Western and Eastern. Would highly recommend doing the Horizon Club, as you get breakfast included. The hotel is also centrally located and the staff are very helpful.

Room had great view of Darling Harbour. Staff was very professional & friendly. Excellent room service!!! Can’t wait to go back!!

Close to Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge & Circular Quay. If you’re healthy you can walk everywhere from Circular Quay to Queen Victoria Building, Sydney Tower, Chinatown, Paddy’s Market, Darling Harbour aquarium etc...

Wonderful hotel with a magnificent view and very attentive service staff

Great Service, Excellent Location

Wish they had disclosed closed pool and spa renovations and renovation of breakfast area when booking. However, customer service was excellent and help with touring, transport, transfers and business services was grand.

Being in the Horizon Club, 30 stories up, is a great bonus for families who can use the all day club to grab a coke, newspaper, apple and unwind, play cards, enjoy the views in between touring.

Sydney Hotel

The Shangri-La Hotel is in a great location to explore Sydney. The hotel has amazing views of the harbor, opera house, and skyline. It is in walking distance to many city activities. If you stay at this hotel be sure to visit the restaurant/bar on the top floor for spetacular views at sunset.

It Truly is a Shangri-La

This wonderful oasis in the heart of Sydney’s Rocks district combines the warmth and charm of a boutique hotel with all the amenities of the luxury hotel it is. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the afternoon tea will keep your fortified for the rest of the night and the views are to die for. Our only nitpick is that the gym was moved and the pool closed for renovations, which wasn’t mentioned when we booked nor when we checked in.

Make sure to walk the short distance to The Rocks when you stay. Saturday’s market and the local museums will keep all ages interested and happy.

Great Location, Good Value, BIG hotel

Convenient location but you need to walk down more than 100 steps to get to Circular Key. The Concierge floors (Horizon CLub) and the related service was great!! An exceptional value overall. Wasn’t impressed with the service in the main restaurant or in the lobby, but the Horizon club made up for it. Our suite was VERY roomy.

What an excellent experience! Location is great. It is just a short walk to the harbor. The staff are wonderful and helpful. Very clean and well-kept rooms. Just an excellent hotel in all aspects.

Luxury, courtesy, and conveinience

Excellent location, attentive and courteous staff, beautiful and luxurious room. We did not opt for the Opera House view upgrade and were still 100% pleased with our stay.

Great location

This hotel has excellent service and is in a perfect location to see all of Sydney very easily. The staff is eager to help with any services needed. From front desk to the concierge. The bed was comfortable and kingsize and room was always kept neat and clean. The size of the room was perfect and has a nice view of the Waterfront (at least mine did) of the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay.

There is alot of things to see in Sydney such as the Taronga Zoo and Sydney Aquarium which I recommend very highly. The Manley beach and Darling Harbor are spectacular as well. The ferries will take you to all of these locations. The location of Shangra La Hotel is perfect for convenience to the ferries and local restaurants too.

Outstanding location and service

My wife and I stayed for 4 days in February. Our flight arrived at 8:30 am local time, and even though check in wasn’t until much later, they had no problem checking us in and getting us to our room. Outstanding location, right down the street from everything you want to do in Sydney, easy access to the ferries, and lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. Definately would stay here again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

You can easily walk everywhere, but travelling by ferry is a great way to see the city. Get the all day hop on/off passes for biggest bang/buck. For a great meal and service, go to Wolfies on the harbor - best meal we had there.

Great hotel but phone calls extremely expensive and gym hours limited

This is a lovely, well-located hotel in The Rocks with charming staff. Beware of exhorbitant phone fees for local calls, which can quickly equal the bargain internet price for the room. The gym was open only normal business hours, not late into the evening.

Shangri-La in Sydney

Tremendous service in Horizon Club. Arranged for an upgrade upon arrival for discounted price. Incredible view. We found the restaurants acceptable, but not stellar. The bed was not comfortable and needed to be replaced. I would absolutely go there again.

Very good hotel.

Overall the hotel was excellent. The only gig is that the service in the Mix restaurant seemed hasty and the drinks at the 36th floor bar were watered down or skimpy. Eg., I had a scotch and water and it was hard to see the scotch. One of my quests at the bar complained about the amount of bourbon that he was served (a shot). After the bourbon was measured,he had been served about 75% of the shot initially. For the quality of the hotel and bar,it has been my experience that drinks are not skimpy.

Just a hotel

Two things are important when I stay a hotel. Room and food with good service. First of all, the dinner buffet was not worth the cost. $89 for adult, half of adult price for kid. Room was clean. Anyway, I would not recommend for potential guest.

This hotel has easy access, walking distance, to many downtown attractions. They also were quite helpful to me since, I had my wallet "picked".

Best Hotel Stay I’ve Ever Had

Very impressed with the Shangri-La Hotel. Room was very clean with a beautiful view. Bed was very comfortable with the down pillows and comforter--just like home! Exceptional service from all service personnel, from housekeeping to the concerige, even helping me to find a bottle of Australian Tokay wine that I wanted to try. If I ever get back to Sydney, I would definitely stay at the Shangri-La again.

Must try the Altitude Restaurant on the 36th floor of the Shangri-La. I had an excellent dining experience there, and the view of the harbor and opera house are spectacular.

View - WOW

I treated myself to 2 nights at a luxury hotel with fabulous views - was NOT dissappointed! Room was nice, clean, confortable and Opera House view was spectacular. The Rocks is an interesting area of shops and galleries. Circular Quay (Opera House and cruise/ferry terminals) just a further few steps away. Hotel is on a hill so be prepared for plenty of steps.

This hotel is the old ANA hotel, and it is not in the ideal location; however it is not bad, and makes up for it with very pleasant front-desk and concierge staff
