Hotel Mare Nostrum

not worth it

As everyone should know Ibiza is a party island. I knew this going in and was the reason for the trip. I first arrived and thought this is a decent hotel near the nightlife and looks ok from the outside. I did not expect to come to a hotel that I booked a queen size bed and recieve 2 twin beds pushed together. Also the noise I am talking about wasn’t from the nightlife or the music outside. It was people next door on both sides. They were not loud just talking in normal voices but I could hear every word very clear because the walls are paper thin. After a long day at the beach I just wanted to come back and relax for a few hours before going out that night. Wasn’t going to happen. I do not blame people next to me I think it was a bad construction design from the beggining. I should not pay for a hotel and hear what my neighbors are planning for there night while I am in my room. Really wish I would have stayed in another hotel it would have made my trip so much more enjoyable. Also if you want a remote for the TV or A/C be prepared to leave a deposit for each one. And you will be lucky to get it back. With the maids coming every hour it gets very old very fast. Please go down the street and stay at another hotel. This one could be the worse one on the island. The only good thing I have to say about the hotel is that there are 2 restraurants across the street that are the cheapest I could find for places to eat with really good food.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Hotel Garbi or the Jet Apartments are very nice hotels. Cost a bit more then the Mare Nostrum but are so well worth the money. You will get so much more out of your stay.

So So

I stayed in Mare Nostrum for 5 days in August 2008, the room looked clean at first look but when you look into details the bathroom, and the sheets were not clean. Moreover we had to remove the sheets from the bed and left on the floor to finally make them change the sheets after 2 days. The food was ok but plates were not also clean people have to pass 5 plates to find a clean one. Cleaning tables was a matter of sweeping the bits and pieces on the table off the table to the ground. So becareful when you are walking in the restaurant. The positive things about the room and the hotel was, there were no noise so we could wake-up quite late without interference, the air conditioning was good. The location of the is very good walking distance to Bora Bora and Space. Not very close but you don’t want to be too close those places if you want to have a moment to yourself sometimes.

I would definately recommend this hotel for a lovely stay. First and foremost, its great location, it’s just a short walk to the beach, especially the famous "Bora Bora". The staff is very efficient and pleasant, and the rooms were clean and well maintained. I will definately go back.

Decent hotel with good location

Hotel Mare Nostrum was a decent hotel with a good location. It is a short ride from the airport, and is located across the street from a nice beach. The hotel staff was not too friendly, and the quality of the hotel is nothing to be desired. The food at the buffet was barely edible, but the room we had did have 3 beds, which was nice for a group of 3 traveling. This is definitely a "spring break" type hotel. Do not expect a lot of partying if you go in April (end of the off season) as we did. The hotel was littered with 60-80 year olds.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We rented mopeds for $29 Euros/day which included insurance. They were very good quality and allowed us to ride around the island and see a lot of nice beaches and cliffs, as well as several nice restaurants off the beaten path that had great views.

Good location

Hotel was in a good location. Pool area could use an expansion; but, bar was right next to the pool. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything!! (even water running). Very young group staying there...college atmosphere but fun. Evening shows needed some improvement (was more like a high school skit).

Traveler's tip on dining

We walked across the street to the beach and received our chairs (4euros ea) at the far end to the left right past the ferry pickup. It was quieter and just better. Water was pretty dirty, but, had super garlic/cheese pizza & beer at little restaurant nearby.

Like the title says...i hope you like to party. dj’s spinning house at the pool by day then inside by the bar at night where you can catch a buzz for cheap before going out until the sun comes up. the rooms aren’t that great and your neighbors are probably going to be loud but what do you expect? you should be here to party anyway...you’re in ibiza! enjoy...

15 minute walk from Space, short cab ride to Pacha but good luck finding one...

Super NIce

This hotel is conveniently located across from the beach and right on a bus line. The bus takes you directly to Ibiza City. Additionally, the hotel is in walking distance to many restaurants. The breakfast buffet is great!

Excellent location and no need to take public transportation unless you wanted to.
