We had a wonderful time, would definetly recommend it to others with children.

This is a great place to go with the family. Although it is a bit pricey, the waterpark in itself makes up for it. We traveled from NJ and stayed at the Great Wolf in Williamsburg, VA. We used the waterpark on the first day because we were to tired to drive anywhere else. Had a blast. We waited about 30 minutes for our room to be ready because check in was 4pm and we arrived at 1:30pm. I was suprised to get the room early. This resort is 10-15 minutes from Busch Gardens and 45-60 minutes from Virginia Beach. Two must see places if your in the area. The beach is absolutely beautiful and very clean (compared to NJ beaches which are kind of gross). Jamestown is very close also but we didn’t get a chance to visit. There is a restaurant called Jungle Jim’s on the same property as the resort. Great prices on the kid’s menu and very affordable for the adults too. The staff was extremely polite and helpful, very nice to the children also. Overall, I would recommend this resort and actually I can’t wait to go back myself. Hope this helps other families out there. (Mother of three very active boys ages 11,9,5).

Be sure to pack lots of snacks, water and juice boxes for the little ones. There is a Super Walmart a few minutes away too. Food and drinks are very pricey if you are just relying on the resort to eat.

Recent trip to Great Wolf Lodge

We recently stayed four nights at the Va lodge. First, things we didn’t like: 1. The room key wrist bands were a bit annoying and so was paying for extra bands. 2. Our toilet was loose but operable. We had a problem with it at one point (it kept running) and the service group took care of it very quickly. 3. We were on the ground floor with a patio and not all of the smoking guests were considerate with their butts. The grounds were well maintained but needed to be picked up more often around the outside of the lodge. 4. The hotel did a good job of enforcing the 11:00 silence curfew except for one night. 5. Our AC unit was loud. 6. The mini golf course onsite was the worst I’ve seen in awhile (uninteresting holes and poor lighting). Things we liked: 1. The staff was very courteous and helpful. 2. We weren’t charged extra for a rollaway. 3. They allowed our family of seven to stay in a single room, which saved us money. 4. The pools had many life guards, who were unbelievably attentive to their jobs. Bravo! 5. The arcade was a big hit for the kids and we adults liked the onsite Starbucks. Over all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the lodge.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a Wal-Mart two minutes away, which we took advantage of.There was a fridge and microwave in our room. We ate breakfast and some lunches in the room, which helped keep costs down.

bring alot of cash & air freshner

they say smoke free facility. I can tell you as an ex smoker and a person that is VERY TOLERANT of others that smoke, our room was so heavly smoke filled that our suitcase of clothes smelled of cigs. when we arrived home. That is a big problem. the security guard gave us a squirt bottle of freshner to spray in the room. Yea, that was professional

Bring lots of cash. Your going to need it.

Great Stay

My siblings and I took our children for a weekend at great wolf there were 8 of us. We had a great time. Fun was had by all. We went to the wal-mart to purchase snacks for the room as the food at the resort was expensive. There was lots to do....However, if you have little ones 5 and younger make sure you get plenty of rest the day before everyone will be tired after a day at the waterpark. And you will have to drag your kids home when it is time to go.

Go to walmart to purchase snacks and water. Soda, water, juice cost $2.50. Make sure you go early to find a seat to view the kids.

Nice hotel but the service sucks....

My overall stay at this hotel was ok, but the automatic turnoff was the wait for a room. Check in time is usually 3pm or 4pm, my family and I weren’t able to check in until around 6:30pm, in which I felt was horrible when you have younger kids and just getting off of the highway traveling. You are able to stay on the premises and use their facility while you wait, but it’s just the principle of the matter.

Awesome Experience

Great Wolf is a super family experience. Everyone is super accomidating who works there. The lodge is wonderful. Lots of activities.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Plan to stay in the lodge, during your entire trip. If you try to plan other things in Williamsburg, you will miss out on something fun going on in the lodge. If you have children, buy them a "paw pass" -- it is worth it.

Best Family Hotel

The kids had a blast - we would definitely go again to this location or another. Things for all ages to do, but optimal age is probably 8-14.

Great Waterpark - booked again

Had a great time although the water could be a little warmer in the park. Get there early to beat the slide lines but the howling Tornado is a must!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Go the park when it openens in the morning to snag a table and get one step ahead of the lines!

Love the Place -- But Amenities WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!

This hotel is awesome for families. The water park in the bottom rocks; we changed our plans just to stay there longer to play. However, we took a pair of nine year olds, and located throughout the hotel are these little treasure chest activities. It costs $20 for a "wand" to open them, and I just wasn’t paying $40 for that "privilege". That’s way too expensive, as the rates are really high to begin with. It should be included in the room or no more than $5 as I don’t think they even get to keep the items. Overall, I’d love to go back but will need to factor the cost of the "whine factor" into the budget, and that would include the arcade. One of the restaurants is fairly expensive, and some of the adults were upset that the bar closed at 11:00 on a Saturday night, which was before our arrival.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Add some cash to your budget to eliminate the problems I had or be prepared for this situation. I could have afforded it; I just thought it was way too much to spend for a brief kid’s activity. Also, get there early if you want to hang out in the club.

Great 4 the kids

This hotel waterpark was great for a break from the city and everyday hassels. It was fun to spend the time with our grandchildren and not have to leave the hotel. the draw back was we had to eat at a buffet or pizzia ... for my husband a diabetic we had to find somewhere outside the hotel. The Magic quest in Lobby and hallway without parental controls was not so cool and at 10:00PM not fun. We really enjoyed the break.

Enjoy and relax. Keep up with your kids in the hallways great place for all

The kids will LOVE it!!!

The rooms were very nice and clean. The kids loved the waterpark. Everything is located on site (food, activities, spa, etc...). You don’t have to leave for anything. We had the family suite(nice size). However, when we go back, we will probably get the KidKamp or KidCabin Suite. Kids can’t stop talking about it. Great Fun!!!

Head and a bed

Nothing really to scream about. Comfortable and clean. I was not awe stuck by any means but for a kid oriented hotel, I did not expect 5 stars either. Hotel was just what I expected it to be. Clean, fun, affordable

Awesome Hotel

Visited this hotel during a recent trip to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. Found the hotel to be incredible. Very friendly, efficient, staff. Waterpark, while not as large as water country was very clean, well maintained, and the kids had a great time. There is a lot to be said for "living" at a waterpark for 3 days. Restaurants on property were nice with good food, and I am a chef so I am picky. Gift shops were nice and not too pricey considering where they were. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. Especially for families who want to entertain the kids, and do something special for them. Great value for the money. We are already planning our next visit in a few months.

We Had So Much Fun!!!

We stayed at the Lodge from July 28th through the 31st 2008--our first time--and had a terrific stay. The kids, ages 11 and 5, were on the go from the moment we got there. The front desk was understandably busy at the 4:00 check-in time, and our room wasn’t ready yet, but we were issued passes to the water park to use while we waited, and our room was ready a short wait later. The water park can’t be beat, and I can’t say enough good things about it. Lifeguards and attendants were on duty throughout, and they were very attentive and courteous. I was impressed by the fact that the water park area never got overly crowded. We had a very relaxing vacation, and we hope to return next year.

You can arrive as early as 1:00 on check-in day. Bring a separate bag with bathing suits so you can enjoy the water park while you wait for your room. You can also stay later on your last day as well. The rooms have a mini frig, microwave and coffee maker, so we were able to bring along breakfast and lunch supplies to cut down on expenses, although there are plenty of dining choices around. Great Wolf Lodge isn’t cheap, but there are a few discounts out there if you’re diligent.

Excellent Place to Visit

There were 6 of us and we all had a ball. The water area was nice but appealed more to the younger children, the teens loved the music and computers area set up for teens, and the food area were more than adequate (pizza hut & starbucks who could ask for more). Not only was the hotel nice but the activities in the Williamsburg area were great. This was trip with something for everyone
