Good location, great value for your money
We stayed last week of May - and understand that things may be different in high season. However, this hotel is very well located right on a beautiful beach and boardwalk. Good variety of restaurants nearby for every taste and budget. The thing that most stands out is the cleanliness of everything and friendliness of the hotel staff. If you want a nightlife and swinging singles scene, this is definitely not the place for you. However, many middle-aged/older couples as well as families enjoy a quiet, clean, calm atmosphere that offers nightly dancing, a spectacular beach view, great swimming pool, and close proximity to various activities. Good shopping too. Dont miss the gypsy market on Wednesdays - good deals to be had for souvenirs. Good to know: we have never seen a place that runs as punctually as Quarteira - EVERYTHING in on time to the second - so dont be late!! Tip: Many of the tours booked through the hotel must be paid for in Euros - not credit cards.
Traveler's tip on dining
Mama Mias Pizzeria on the board walk - REALY good pizza and pasta and friendly service. Also near fish market is a street called Vasco de Gama the restaurant called Restaurant Vasco de Gama -VERY good seafood meal, great service, good wine selection, reasonable price. Also recommend "Portugese evening" - an evening of dining and Portugese dancers in a typical Portugese village in the mountains - good bang for your buck (but would not recommend for children).

Great location on beach for families
We thought this hotel was terrific for families because of the pedestrian promenade in front of the hotel instead of a street. The beach was very nice with very polite, friendly lifeguards. It was a festive atmosphere at night due to a festival at the end of June. A parade & fireworks topped off the childrens night. The hotel was clean & well maintained. A very good value for the money.
Traveler's tip on dining
Hotel food on the porch overlooking the beach was not very good at all. But the food at Mama Mias just down the promenade to the right was terrific. We ate there twice. Great service. Catered to the kids. Recommend Cataplana & Mussels. Pizza good, too. The bar right next to it had excellent Caipirinhas.
