Great place to stay

We were very pleased with the accomodations of our rooms. Close to the pool and close to the beach. Room was clean and comfortable. Would recommend this to others.

a lot to be desired

Hotel was an older unit, decor was dated. Sliding glass doors were off the track and could not be fixed. Maintenance came and said they would recommend replacement to the owner.

no more

The elevator was awful! It smelled like it had been used for a bathroom and had been cleaned and then smelled like a public bath all in one. We used the stairs the whole time. The top balcony was full of bird droppings, unusable. The mildew on the screen door was disgusting. no thanks, not again.

Not as Expected

From the brochure, I expected an oceanside hotel. What we actually got was a villa set back off of the beach. You could see the ocean, barely. The villa was quiet and peaceful. The furnishings were adequate, but not the best. Also - note that this resort is set on the far northern end of the Isle. This adds about ten minutes more travel from the other hotels on the island.

All our properties are individually owned and decorated villas, and are located behind the dune line, a minimum of 25 yards from the beach to protect the dunes and natural environment. In the past, the verbiage in the room description did list our properties as “oceanfront”; we have just requested that verbiage be changed to “ocean area”, which is more accurate, as there are some buildings further from the beach than others. Their referral to a “brochure” and expectations of a hotel also indicate they may have initially had us mixed up with another company...all our information does indicate our properties are villas. Also, though there is not “nightlife” within walking distance of where their villa was located, there are several restaurants/bars just a few miles away which feature entertainment in the evenings.

Location, location,location

The location of this resort was great so close to the beach we could hear the ocean at night. The conditions of the unit were less than diserable. I felt the unit was not clean, the maintenance has been ignored, the burners in the stove didn’t all work, the paint was chipping, and the wallpaper was peeling off. The upholstery on the couch was filthy, we have to cover it with a sheet in order to sit on it. The balcony was great, we spent most of the time in the beach or in the balcony. Again the location was great.

All our properties are individually owned and decorated villas and, as such, we have properties of varied quality. In the past, we have placed our guests in basic (Silver-rated) properties, as that is what the pricing is based on. Often, these properties do show signs of wear, though they should be clean and all appliances should be in safe working order. Our new management strategy will include (and already does!) stricter guidelines for our housekeeping and inspection staff.

Decent, the bedroom is a little cramped

We had a good time and the view and beach were beautiful. We thought they should have supplied bathroom soap and a hairdryer. The queen bed in the bedroom was hard to get around to the side by the window because it was cramped for space. Other than that, it was pretty nice. Liked the leather couch and having a radio to enjoy while sitting on the balcony.

Not impressed

Checkout time was on the registration card that you turn in when you check in. We forgot what time that was, and could not find it anywhere else written down. When I called ahead before arriving to have my teens check in early ahead of me, it took several phone calls for someone to answer the phone. Almost all the light bulbs were not working when we arrived. Someone did come to replace the ones in the bathroom on Saturday, the day before we were leaving.

Traveler's tip on dining

We found a great little restaurant called The Mustard Seed within 10 minutes of Isle of Palms and it is delicious!! It was recommended by local people.

not impressed

First of all, no one mentioned to check in you had to go to a shopping center. we wasted an hour plus looking for resort quest check in. the place was clean but small. it looked bigger on the internet. a palm tree was in the way of the ocean view which i paid for. the amenities that was on the write up for the isle of palms & wild dunes was not the same for this resort. it said it was a gated community-this was not. etc.
