Great Hotel, Great Location
We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful and everything was SO clean. It was difficult to find this hotel from the street -- it isnt well marked, but if you find it, it is certainly worth it!

Convenient location in Oxford
Hotel was conveniently located in a fun town. Most of the staff was very nice. I had specifically requested a room for myself and my two teenagers, I was told once I arrived that all that was available was a room with a double bed and a foldout sofa. The sofa was very uncomfortable. (My son slept on the sofa. He had spent two weeks backpacking earlier in the summer, and found sleeping on the ground far more comfortable than sleeping on this hotels sofa.)
Traveler's tip on dining
Enjoyed a great meal at The Bear Pub while in Oxford-simple, traditional food in a fun setting.

A Night at the Eastgate
We arrived late afternoon to the hotel. Our check-in was quick even thought there was only one person at the very small desk. The building itself is very old (built 1300s or so), but all else was modern and charming. The bath facilities looked as though they were circa 1920s with an interesting arrangement for the shower/bath. Once I got it adjusted and showered, I shouted to my husband that if he wanted to take a shower, he had better do it Right Now, because I wasnt going to explain that contraption to him. The panel that se3rved as a showul, but water was splashed all over the entire bathroom. It was all amusing but what a mess for some housemaid to clean up. Breakfast was very good, but the price was not. At check-in we were told the breakfast was 10 pounds per person but in paying for the meal we learned that the clerk omitted to say "with the voucher" and had failed to give us the necessary vouchers. The restaurant staff didnt seem to be concerned that the hotel staff person had omitted the vouchers when we checked in and charged us the full price anyway. That was the only dissappointment.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Be sure to ask for your voucher for breakfast. It will save you a few pounds.
