Located only 5 minutes from historic downtown Durango and 30 minutes from Purgatory Mountain at Durango Mountain Resort, we offer the perfect mix between ease of access to downtown Durango and easy travel to the resort area. The city trolley stops in front of our lobby on a regular basis and travels the entire length of Main Avenue. It is an economical and fun way to get downtown to explore the wonderful heritage of Durango.

Run-down
This hotel is run-down. There is evidence of haphazard, sloppy, remodeling in the rooms and common areas, but the overall impression is that it needs repair---and a real cleaning. Wi-Fi, when it worked, had no coverage in our room (directly across the parking lot from the office). Floors and surfaces were not clean. The upstairs part of the room (extra bedroom) was hot. Breakfast was uninspiring. The staff was lethargic (probably depressed, like the guests).

Needs Renovated
The Hotel Staff is wonderful and very friendly, great location however for the price of the stay the hotel needs to be updated. There is plenty of room, however very old and musty smelling. When you turn on the air conditioner it sounds like your entire room is going to take off. I wondered a little about the sheets, didn’t look like they had been changed from the previous guests. I was afraid to sit on the couch it was pretty nasty. Bathrooms moldy.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Steamworks is wonderful for food. Train ride is spectacular. Mesa Verde is worth the trip. The entire area is just AWESOME!!

Older hotel, but it had a certain charm...
Our first dealings with the hotel was our meeting with the front desk staff. We felt that we were interrupting their TV program. The young lady went through her spiel so fast it was difficult to understand her and we got the impression that she wanted us out of there ASAP. The room itself was kind of charming with the fireplace and split level.
