Super 8 Motel - Anchorage

Good for the money

The hotel is in what seems to be an "older" part of town, with only a few restaurants close by, tho we did walk to a diner that was very nice. The staff was very helpful in arranging our transportation to the train station. The drivers were prompt and very curteous.

Going downhill fast

Three years ago this was a very nice mid-level hotel. The last two times I have stayed here it seems to be turning into barely one step above being a ghetto hotel. I won’t be back again.

Noisy location

It was your average motel, I expected that. I was not planning on being there that much. The staff was nice, helped me with directions, ect. Location good, easy to get around from there to places. Just really noisy location, right next to two major roads, traffic all night. The window in my room was not properly sealed, so it allowed even more noise in. Could have been cleaner, one day I came back and nothing was straightened at all in the room. When I arrived, I found a used coffee filter in the machine. Carpet could stand cleaning, too. But, pretty much what I expected, just too much noise from the traffic. I booked for a week stay there, but ended up booking two nights away from there, mainly because of the drive, but also, I just wanted a good night sleep.

Traveler's tip on dining

Good place called the "City Diner", just north of the motel. Stays open until 11:00. Great breakfast place called "Gwennies", too, not more than 5 minutes south. Has the "Alaska feel" to it. Nice staff at both.

Comfortable

I was surprised at how comfortable the bed was - bed comfort is very important to me. Usually a hotel that costs less has horrible beds but this is the exception to the rule. Not a fancy hotel, towels are thin and the furniture is OK but the employees were very friendly and helpful and as I said the bed was very comfortable. I recommend this to many others I have stayed at in Anchorage.

Traveler's tip on dining

If you want a good meal try Sullivan’s downtown - If you want a cocktail with a great view go to the top of the Captain Cook Hotel - I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant - great view, food not so good.

Excellent motel for the price.

We chose to stay at the same motel on our return trip. The employees were extremely helpful in providing guidance to spots in Anchorage. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others.

NOT IMPRESSED

Can’t believe this Motel deserves even 1 star rating. During my 1 week stay, Room not cleaned some days, no towels, no hot water for shower on 1 day. Free breakfast was JUST ok.

good, not great

Room was comfortable and clean, the biggest issue was that the air conditioner was loud but if you turned it off you could detect the smell of smoke from outside the room. It was a non-smoking room, but the rooms across the hallway were not.
