Holiday Inn in Seward a winner
The Hotel is located right in the harbor, with view of the cruise ships and mountains. It had a surprisingly good breakfast buffet and excellent coffee in the morning. All around a very good place to land in Seward.

beat my expectations
the room was cleaner than i had expected, bathrooms are not cramped and the view from the hotel is also good. one morning, we saw a sea otter swimming in the waters opposite to our rooms. the washer/dryer facility ($3 each), was also useful. breakfast is not great but adequate. the kenai fjords tour starting point as well as other restaurants (which we really enjoyed) are all just a few minutes walk from here, which was very convenient.

Ray’s restaurant is a good place for dinner. did not try the Chinook’s but heard that this is also good.

Great Hotel on Small Boat Harbor
Arrived here by train from Anchorage. Someone was at train to meet us and transfer our luggage. They would have taken us, but it was only a short walk from station so we preferred to walk. People at the desk were always helpful when we asked questions. When leaving for cruise they took our bags right to the ship for us. Room was well taken care of the five days we were there. Several restaurants withing just a few minutes walking distance.
