Great Hotel

Fulfilled expectations. Would definitely stay there again. Very clean and comfortable. Watch out for the parking fees. Very high.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Was only there one night. You definately need at least 2 or 3 nights and days to appreciate all that Chicago has to offer.

Very nice hotel at a great cost

We got the room for pretty cheap right on Michigan Avenue. It was close to the downtown loop and to the El train.

CLASSIC HOTEL

The rooms were very comfortable, spacious and clean. It’s a very classic hotel. I just wish the hot tub was bigger.

Get the standard room with 2 bathrooms.

Great Location

The Hilton Chicago was a great place to stay. It was our first trip to Chicago and the location was wonderful. Live music in the park every night right across the street! Walking distance to the Shedd Aquarium and the Planetarium, walked to Sears Tower and close to the El and the subway. The room with 2 bathrooms was great with 2 teens, but the beds could be a little bigger. We would definitely stay here again!

Traveler's tip on dining

Great place for breakfast right down Michigan at the Artist’s Cafe! The early bird Segway tour was perfect, it felt like we were on a personal tour of Chicago!

I’d stay there again

Really my friends and I needed a place to crash for Lollapalooza but I would definitely stay at the Hilton again. Great location - we walked to Millenium Park a few times - and very nice people, with very comfortable rooms. I just put a 3 for the service since it took us way too long (& too many faxes/phone calls etc.) to get an item back that we had left in our room.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Millenium Park is a walkable distance away - take your shoes off at night and splash around!

We love the Chicago Hilton!

The Chicago Hilton is the only hotel we’ve found that offers two-bath rooms, and with 4 women it’s a MUST! The room price was a little higher due to Lollapalooza, but it was still worth the money. Beds are super comfortable and staff is excellent. It’s the only Hotel we use while in Chicago!

Historic Pleasure

The history of the hotel was impressive as was the baroque decor of the lobby. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. While a pleasurable experience, I would have preferred a more updated less ’historic’ bathroom.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Healthly walk to shopping on the magnificent mile. Perfect location for must see Millineum park, Grant Park, museums and art district.

Nice, but focused on business...not pleasure

We had a nice time at the Hilton on Michigan Ave. The positives were that it was very close to a number of attractions and right across the street from a very nice park. Our room having 2 bathrooms was wonderful. I haven’t had a hotel room with 2 baths (and only 1 bedroom) before. There was a nice restaurant in the lobby and the parking garage onsite was very convenient. There was also a TV in the elevator, which was nice. The conceirge gave us a good tip for breakfast on Sunday morning and check-in was relatively quick & easy (although felt longer than many others I’ve been to). The negatives were that it felt very business-like (which I assume is their focus) even though we were there for pleasure. The pool was a lap pool (again, more business...less pleasure) and the hot tub was closed. I would have liked a game room or something. The staff was courteous, but very stiff and not overly friendly.

May not be the best hotel for a family trip. There was a business conference going on in the hotel and it was a very nice hotel, but did not seem very kid-friendly.

Great Location, Not a Great Hotel

I was disappointed in the service at this hotel. I stood in line for 40 min. to get my room assigned after I had already checked in earlier in the day. The line was around the corner and there were only 2 people at the counter that had space enough for 10 employees to handle customers. The room was small, which I expected in an older hotel, but was not very clean. It took us asking the bell hop where to to the air conditioning on and it was in a breaker box behind a table that was nearly impossible to get to. The breaker box was full of dust. The location of this hotel was fantastic for our purpose of visitng the Taste of Chicago event at Grant Park, but I will not pay those rates to stay there again.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Buddy Guys club Legends is just down the street a block or two. Great music and great blues history!

Bug infested

Upon first glance the hotel seemed fine, however, upon return to my room in the evening, I entered the bathroom and it was totally filled with mosquitos!! I have taken pictures and will post. They offered to switch me to another room, b=however, that was not going to work at 3am in the morning! I shut the door and used the second bathroom that I was fortunate to have. WAS HORRIBLE!

Very Beautiful Hotel

This hotel was the nicest one I have ever stayed at. We were able to get into our room early without having to pay any extra fee and our room was very nice and very clean. I hotel had a great pool and patio to use. I would most likely stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Chicago.

Grand Hotel

The Hilton Chicago was beautiful and full of history. The service was good and the band that played at Kitty O’Shea’s was wonderful. If I had one complaint, it would be the size of the room. My friend and I had a two bedroom, two bathroom "suite". It was the size of a regular hotel room with an extra bathroom. While the room was nice, I guess I expected more.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure to get a train pass at the airport before you trek into downtown. I paid $14 for a 3-day pass and I was able to go anywhere. The train service was great! Also - find a map of the stops online before you go. Makes sight seeing a lot easier.

Great Chicago Hotel

Very large, old world comfort and lovely amenities. Best was well appointed two bathroom room w/ view of Grant Park, river and Lake Michigan. Cheerful service from staff and helpful concierge. Breakfast at the "Lobby Bar" was relaxing and a more reasonable alternative than a restaurant. Great location makes it ideal for family and business travelers. Chose the Hotel because of a college graduation being held there for a granddaughter. As first time travelers to Chicago it couldn’t have been a better choice..

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Have a drink/snack , outdoor, at Mercat next store at the Blackstone Hotel on Michigan Ave....dinner at Tamarind(Asian), 2 blocks around the corner. Another great restaurant....C House on Superior Street. Architectural Boat Tour is a great way to view the City and understand it’s history. Great walking area as well.
