Monuments, Museums and Cherry Blossoms!
Located just a few blocks from the metro in a beautiful section of DC our trip was terrific. The free fancy coffees and cookies were a special touch - much appreciated by these two travelers.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
The DC metro is easy to use, inexpensive, and has stops within a few blocks or less of every major attraction. Washington is a beautiful city and - once there - almost every site is free.

I guess since we were just there to sleep...
So my husband and I traveled from Hampton Roads VA up to DC for the AC/DC concert. I was looking for a decent hotel for a one night stay, that wasnt in a bad part of town. Since Im familiar with DC, I chose this hotel. It was a bit difficult to find, but I suppose I can blame mapquest on that. I had reserved a room with a king size bed, but when we got up to our room, it was 2 queen beds. I guess that was ok, we each got our own bed. But unfortunately, the hotel did not have individual heating/ac units and the entire hotel had already switched over to heat. So we were told to just turn the heat off alltogether and maybe the room would cool down. Couldnt open any windows. We got back from the concert hungry but didnt want to order room service from the foo-foo restaurant because it didnt have normal food, like a cheeseburger or pizza. So I bought some tuna fish & crackers, a honey bun and soda from the little sundries store. We left early the next morning for the 4 hour drive back home.
Traveler's tip on dining
They did have free wi-fi service and I had brought my laptop and found a little pub called Lucky Bar right around the corner. Great fish and chips!
