Complete and utter dump -- stay away at all costs!!

Mine was a blind last minute booking for a 2-night romantic getaway from London. This place was a far cry from pictures shown and would pull a (-3) stars easily in my opinion. The hotel is run-down; no air conditioning; no bathroom door -- it’s just not designed in, so you’d have to warn your partner (if you’ve got one) to look the other way if you wanted some privacy; no iron or ironing board or a place to iron clothes -- "it’s a security feature," I was told by the reception. The room was noisy from street traffic -- motor bikes and drunkards. We ended up forgoing our pre-paid reservation and moving out -- and for some reason, our new place had no security concerns over ironing...

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The area is seedy -- try not to return late. Far from downtown as well...

Basic hotel for a short stay.

Not in downtown but good transportation facilities nearby. Should have internet available for guests.

Just what we needed...

A great place for a few nights in Vienna! Our room was very spacious and clean - but the bathtub had a bit of mildew. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. And, the breakfast was great - lots of choices and a pleasant dining room. It is very easy to get to public transportation - both the U-Bahn (metro) stop (Alserstrasse) and the Strassenbahn (streetcar) are very close and run frequently. You can buy metro tickets at a nearby Tobacco Shop, but I don’t see any advantage?

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Dinner in a section of the city called Grinzing was really nice and a short Strassenbahn ride away... Don’t visit Schonbrunn Palace unless you have a LOT of time - it is HUGE! We were rushed to catch our train and ended up jogging for most of the time there... The morning exercise at the Spanish Riding School is nice, but don’t expect to see the Lippizaners do anything too fancy... still a great experience however!

Pretty good price and service

It is located in an immigrant working class neighborhood. You’re within a few minutes of walking from the tram station (south of the hotel, tram 43 and 44). You can take the tram to the city center or the U station nearby. I walked to the city center most of the time and it wasn’t too bad of a walk at all. Staff are friendly. The breakfast is excellent. Overall a good deal for the price.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The mostly working class immigrants in the neighborhood are from the Middle East (Turkish mostly). You can get great deals on food and internet access and international phone calls from the stores nearby (right next to the U station). Also, water is extremely expensive in Europe (cost more than beer and wine). Buy some bulk bottled water in the supermarket nearby and take them with you while you tour around the city. Also, buy the 24 hour transportation pass. It is a good deal.

Affordable choice

It’s a cheap and comfortable one. No internet is a drawback.
