Horrible!!

This has been the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. First, when we got there, we were suppose to have a king sizes bed, it turned out to be a double. When I got to the room, we look for the toothpaste, there was none. I called downstairs and they had run out but I could buy a bar from them. Then every afternoon after the cleaning person did my room I would have to chase them down for replacement towels for the ones they took and for sugar for the coffee. We had no water for a day because apperently the town had lost water power. The pool was nothing like they pictured. Overall, I would never return to this hotel not even if they were paying for my stay nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Do Not Stay Here - Stay in Port Lucaya

We could not leave our hotel after nightfall because we did not feel safe...keep in mind that my husband is a combat veteran and Special Teams Paramedic. We cut the trip short a day to "get off this rock". The shopping mall across the street referred to in the lodging information had bars on the doors/windows of each shop and the Jet’s Pizza required us to be buzzed in before entering. We were accosted every day by locals trying to get us to sit through time-share sales presentations or begging for money. The one shining example of locals was the driver of the shuttle to the beach whom was extremely informative and nice (the last shuttle to the beach was 3:05 with the last returning shuttle being 5:45, so they obviously knew tourists should not be out after dark). The staff seemed to think we were simply an inconvenience in their day - except for the Security guys who also were very helpful and informative. We didn’t use Housekeeping the entire time we were they because I would not let anyone into my room. Port Lucaya was nice. They don’t even let the public transportation into Port Lucaya. The International Bazaar (primary reason we stayed here) was right next to the hotel - but, there were only about 3-5 restaurants/shops open. The rest were boarded up/closed for damage. We will never return to Freeport - we are not even sure we will ever leave the country again, let alone go to the Carribean due to this experience.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Stay in Port Lucaya. It is great for tourists. The marina and beaches are great. You will not be accosted by beggars or time-shares salespeople as long as you stay there.
