Has to be Portugal’s top hotel for staff, ambience & comfort.
Absolutely wonderful staff - constantly cleaning the little hall coffee/drinks bar. On your honor whiskey/coke; free coffee/tea. Beautiful deck & library overlooking harbour. Easy to use computer to catch up with friends/family in living room. Complimentary port in our room. It was like staying in a palace but with modern conveniences like lighting to read & bathrooms.
Be warned (Rick Steves forwarned us): when that bread, hams, olives are placed on your table - IF you eat them, plan on about 15 euros added to your bill. Say NO.

Wonderful
Great service. They really cared. Breakfst and snacks all day. Our room was large, nicely decorated, and very clean. I usually don’t bother with reviews, but this place deserves one.

Very different, excellent service
The feeling of this hotel is that you are a guest of a wealthy Portuguese family in the late 1800’s. Expect old fashioned comfort, very helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is excellent and you can take it up to the room, if desired.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Don’t forget to go to the 3rd floor library for a gorgeous view of the harbor.
