Bad Location and Costly

The location is really bad, far from everything, downtown, beaches, business area. Next time I will check in the map before booking even if it reads Westin "Ft. Lauderdale". I believe this hotel may even be in a different county. If you come here, even it is a 4-star, be prepared to pay the price on extras: 1) They charge extra for daily parking in this location. 2) They charge extra for wireless Internet service and it is super slow. 3) The business center printer wasn’t working, I had to go to the management office. 4) The swimming pool water was freezing, my kids didn’t want to go in, I know the weather was cloudy but it would have been nice if the water at least was a little warmer. 5) The remote control didn’t work right, I had to call service to exchange it and it was the same thing, you had to press like 5 seconds and look for the right place in the TV to point the control to. I have to say the room inside was very nice, nice beds, bathroom, shower, soap and shapoo’s. Thanks,

Very nice hotel

Nice stay

We liked the hotel and would go back there. The pool area was nice, the location was convenient to the airport and to other areas of interest. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Not what I expected for the money

Our room was right across the hall from the ice machine on our floor and I think that we were only able to get ice out of it 1 time during our 3 day, 4 night hotel stay there. Also the remote to our TV never worked correctly during our whole stay! My husband and I thought that maybe the batteries were dead so we told the lady at the front desk and she said that she would take care of it, but it was never corrected during our whole stay. Overall, the hotel was nice, but considering what it costs to stay there, I was disappointed with the little things that weren’t done to encourage customers to come back. Also, we had to pay to park our rental car. That wasn’t displayed in the information about the hotel and was a little disappointing to find out upon arrival.

This is an older hotel in an industrial area. Some work has been done to update but the overall feeling is a little tired and run down.

Great stay for a great price

Smooth check in, the bedding is beyond heavenly, polite and friendly staff even sent cheesecake to the table for my birthday, easy access to major roads!

unexpected fees

The room was very nice and clean. Bed was very comfortable. We were charged an additional parking fee to self park our car in a lot that did not have an attendent at anytime during our stay nor was the parking lot even half full at anytime. Also a guests dinner tray was left out in the hallway all night.

I needed a couple of days away from the real world and I got it. The pool area was clean and relaxing.

Try to Find a Better Value

I stayed at this hotel to attend a nearby conference because my usual preferred brand of hotel was not available. I was dissatisfied with a number of issues: 1) There was no wireless Internet access. 2) There was wired Internet access, but it was only available for an additional fee and the performance was absolutely horrible. It honestly reminded me of the days of 56K dial-up modems. 3) The equipment in the fitness center was poorly maintained. Specifically, only one threadmill was in working order. It was a shame, because the threadmills and elliptical machines had some neat features like an iPod connector. 4) The fitness center also did not have any Nautilus-type equipment, only threadmills, ellipticals, and free weights. 5) Perhaps my tastes are just too simple, but I found the hotel’s dinner menu a little too "faux sophisticate." I would have preferred a simpler, down-to-earth menu. On the bright side: 1) The staff was very pleasant and customer service-oriented, especially the room service staff. 2) Breakfast was excellent, although expensive compared to other chains that include a full cooked-to-order breakfast in the room rate. 3) The hotel and grounds were very nice, especially the pool and boat dock.

was tricky finding the entrance but once found your good. very nice, the only thing I didn’t know is they charge daily for parking! other hotels we have stayed at including Westin in Key West don’t charge for parking.

great value for Ft. Lauderdale

very nice overall hotel plus the rates made it a great value. beautiful pool. a little distant from the heart of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami but good value.

Pool and restaurant

The room was very nice. But, the pool area was dirty, the pool lounge chairs were old, broken and dirty. there were no beach towels 2 out of 3 times I went to the pool. There was no one available to take orders for drinks in the pool area. The resaurant was closed in the middle of the day, which left my quests and I no where to eat at the hotel. There was not enough desk receptionist and had to wait a long time just to ask a question. We were not aware this Westin was not the one on the beach and was going to be charged $400 to transfer our reservation to the Westin on the beach, near the wedding party we were with. I think Westin should have been more co-operative to assist us with a transfer within the Westin Hotel system.

Good Business Traveler Hotel

The hotel was nice, clean and well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly. However, the hotel’s primary purpose is to provide a place for business travelers visiting the nearby office parks and not necessarily tourists. With that said, there isn’t too much as far as extra features or entertainment you’d expect from a big hotel in a tourist city. It is convenient...right off the freeway. About 15-20 minutes from the Ft. Lauderdale beaches.

Keep in mind that this hotel charges separately for parking. In May ’09 the rate weas $10 USD for self park and $14 USD (plus whatever tip you give) for valet.

Good location, nicely remodeled hotel. HORRIBLE SERVICE

The staff is extremely rude - unwilling to answer questions or work with you. Not friendly, no smiles. Rooms are nice, spacious, modern. Parking is $10/day -- which is ridiculous given that it is self-parking, other hotels in the area do not charge for parking, and it is a large outdoor parking lot. However, if you have work in Fort Lauderdale, or north Broward County -- good location. Easy to get to from the airport. Nice pool area outside if you have free-time. Not many good restaurants in the area.

Very satisfied with this hotel. Our room was quite large and confortable. Really nice, comfortable beds. Good breakfast. The only thing, maybe because few people staying at the hotel, that the restaurant was closed early and had to eat at the bar, but we were satisfied with the food and attention.We will keep in mind this hotel whenever we visit Ft. Lauderdale again.Do recommend to everyone.

Convenient location, friendly service

My husband and I had to attend a funeral in Pompano Beach, and the Westin offered great convenience at an affordable price. The staff members we encountered were friendly and professional, our room was very spacious, looking out over the large lagoon, and the food was quite good. Of course, the beds at the Westin are always fabulous! The only downside to our stay was that the elevator was not working well when we arrived and there was a lengthy wait to get up to our 11th floor room! The problem seemed to have been resolved by morning.

I liked the bath amenity, very clean and comfortable. The place is little far from the city and the beach though...

Could be better

I stayed here in October 2008 for a business trip. I was only there one night, but as a lot of said, this hotel is showing it’s age. This is not a typical Westin quality hotel. Also I ordered room service and the selection was VERY limited and also VERY expensive! I will be choosing a different hotel on my next trip here.

A Great Westin Hotel

I think this Hotel is underrated. Is a bit away from the beach, but it is a fantastic hotel. VERY CLEAN, very friendly staff, you have to pay for parking per day, but in and out priviledges, but it is worth it. It has a Gym, a nice pool and internet access on the lobby for free. I was in Fort Lauderdale for my High School reunion and two of my classmates stayed here as well. I had extra towels ,complimentary coffee in room, Plasma TV, I would stay here anytime without a doubt.

Hair dryers , ironing boards and steam iron, safes in room. Complimentary Coffee in room. You get your money’s worth in here.

Westin is great for a quick trip

My son and I stayed at this hotel while visiting family. It was nicely appointed and very comfortable but not as well maintained as I would have expected for the name and the price.In addition the parking situation during hotel events that occurred during our stay was poorly planned leaving guests like myself without a place to park. In short this is a nice place for a very short stay, but for longer vacations I would probably choose another place.
