On a budget? This is the place
Unless youre rich, its silly to spend a lot of money for "creature comforts" in in a Paris hotel. Of course, even cheap places arent that cheap; but most people will want to be out and about, saving their money for sites, food, and fun. So our advice is: accept that the rooms are small, the televisions small (who goes to Paris to watch TV? Seriously!), and check in to a hotel that is (1) close to a Métro station, (2) clean and safe, and (3) cheap. And then get out and enjoy the city. This hotel meets all three criteria: (1) it is steps away from the Jaurès Métro, which is 2 stops from Gare du Nord, connecting to other lines easily. (2) it is perfectly clean, with maid service every day, and the area is reasonably safe (and so close to the Métro entrance that it hardly matters). (3) It is very cheap by Paris standards. We paid less than youd pay at your basic Comfort Inn on a nameless, faceless interstate in the US. The room is small, the television tiny (but then again, we never turned it on), the bathroom small but functional. The beds are small but very comfortable (as best as I could tell -- I was asleep practically before I hit the pillow each night). What more could you ask? We used the room to shower and sleep, and had three great days in Paris. As an additional benefit, there are a lot of bakeries, cafés, etc. in the neighborhood, and the hotel is right next door to a Monoprix if you forgot something essential. Highly recommended.

Comfortable, easy access to trains and subway
Room was small (youre in Europe). Quite (on an inner court). Clean.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Did not use breakfast (was 9 euro each at $1.60/1 Euro). There is a pastry shop around the corner, coffee pot in the room. Walking distance to Gard d Nord and Gard d Est.

Really pleased with this Hotel
Good location, staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Definitely not a luxury hotel, but my friend and I stayed there for 5 nights without any problems. The free wi-fi was definitely a plus!
