Old, but clean and inexpensive
Located across the street from Madison Square Garden so if you are seeing an event there it was perfect. From Grand Central a short 6 or 7 block walk. Hotel is obviously old, but clean. I’m not sure why it took so long to check in there was a very long line awaiting check-in we waited for 45 mins. Upgraded to room with King bed and as with most rooms in NYC it was still small, but fine for a weekend stay. Much cheaper than the big hotel chains in the city. Large ornate lobby suggests that in it’s day this was the place to stay. For the value I would stay there again, by saving at least $100 a night we were able to stay at finer restaurants.
Spend a little extra for king bed room.

I’ve stayed at this hotel on a number of occasion and I have never had this bad of service. The room that I was in had no clock or radio for the time. The cleaning people came by at like 9am to clean the room when they decided to clean the room. And then the front desk call to have me to let the cleaning people in because I had the latch on the door. On one occasion they didn’t even bother to clean the room at all and I had to contact the front desk to ask if they were going to clean the room. There wasn’t a dresser to put your clothes away. My clothing stayed in the suitcase. It didn’t have an iron so I walked around with wrinkle clothing on. That’s something I never do. Like I said I have stayed at this hotel several times and have never had this sort of thing happen. It was almost like I was staying at the poor side of the hotel.
