Convenient home base for exploring Amalfi Coast
Nice hotel for the money. Spacious room and good A/C. Staff not overly friendly but courteous. There is not much right around the hotel but it is great location because right next to the ferries, and a (sometimes entertaining) easy/cheap five minute bus ride straight up the hill into town -

Great place to stay if you want to use ferries to explore the whole Amalfi Coast area. Can even get ferry to Naples which can be more comfortable than the local train service

The condition of the hotel is out-dated. The hotel room is very very small especially the bathroom. There’s a bus stop across the street but the schedule is totally unreliable. You need a taxi(costly) to get you to/from the place if you have luggages unless you’re willing to carry them go up/down the hill. The hotel provides shuttle service only to custmers who dine at their restaurant-the only eating place in the area.

We’d Go Back!
The El Faro is in an excellent location in Sorrento. It is just a few steps to the ferries to Capri, Amalfi coast and Naples. The staff was friendly and eager to please. There is also an excellent restaurant on site. Most everyone spoke English. The rooms are ordinary, but the charm of the hotel makes up for that. Get a room with a view, well worth the extra $. The city bus stop is also in front of the hotel. Take it up the hill to the beautiful square in Sorrento for 1 Euro.
