Luxurious Resort
The food at the hotel was some of the best Ive ever eaten. It was very expensive, but worth it. The concierge service was extremely helpful. The spa was very comfortable and relaxing but the masseuses werent spectacular. We rode horses from the stable on the resort, but the horses were "barn sour" and a bit troublesome if you are not an expert rider. The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful, and of course the hotel itself is a work of art. We did have some trouble finding the hotel, but the locals were helpful when we stopped and asked for directions.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The national palace in Sintra is definitely worth the visit. The architechtural detail and hand-painted tiles were magnificent. Sintra had some nice shopping for handmade Portuguese works. The food in Portugal overall was mediocre.
