A Wonderful Experience
The hotel is quite charming...located halfway between the Rialto and San Marco, it was perfect for all of our needs. Rooms in Europe are generally smaller than in the states but our double room was perfect for sleeping, changing clothes and showering. There was a small flat screen tv in the room but who needs tv when you have Venice?!?! Free wifi was nice. The staff was friendly and always helpful. They spoke very good English and didn’t seem to mind when we tried to speak Italian. Claudio’s recommendations of places to eat were spot on....we ate like royalty. We will be going back!

Loved the Hotel al Piave in Venice!
On the advice of Rick Steves’ publication, we hunted up a 3-star hotel a couple "blocks" off of piazza San Marco, that we knew would put us in range of the things we wanted to see and do in Venice. The hotel was perfect - the staff fabulous. The room (a double for my wife and I) was compact, but very well-appointed. The entire facility was very up-to-date and well maintained. The front desk help - which varied with all of our comings and goings - was uniformly plesant and professional. They helped us with a number of local outings. We would definitely book al Piave again on a return visit.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
We were very pleased with the classical concert at the church of Santa Maria Formosa, just a block away. A local college supplied the excellent talent, that performed Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Their school’s speciality was performance in period style, and was very well received. The wonderful acoustics of this de-consecrated church added to the brilliant performances.
