Holiday Inn Narita was simply okay.
The HI Narita was a decent bargain first and foremost. For anyone familiar with Japan, everything is expensive (especially considering the current value of the dollar). HI Narita is a decent, clean hotel to stay in. The bed was very uncomfortable and temperature of the rooms was generally warm (Thankfully the guard on the thermostat came off and I could make the room cooler). Free shuttles to and from the hotel from the airport, and additionally free shuttles to "downtown" Narita. Granted, other than seeing the local temple there isn’t a ton to do in Narita, from my experience. Additionally, Narita is a decent train from Tokyo (or major sightseeing attractions). On my previously trip I stayed in a much more upscale hotel. If I had to choose again, I’m not sure what I’d pick, probably something in the middle...More comforts, closer to Tokyo, but then again I’d pay more.

Get to know the rail systems in Japan..It will be your main way to get around and it isn’t difficult. Buy your tickets in person at each station as nearly every employee can speak enough English to assist you.

Very nice staff, far from town, has shuttle to and from airport and town. Good for catching plane and sleep.
Far from town otherwise it works as it is convenient to the airport.Narita has a beautiful Temple park to stretch your legs and relax your mind after a long flight..
