Hotel Posada Santa Fe - not your Holiday Inn Express
Not new. Not modern. Old and beautiful with class and no flat-screen TV! Right on the main downtown street of Guanajuato -- walk out the front door into a beautiful street restaurant and the main arts and entertainment district. Wonderful staff who will make sure you make your 5 a.m. plane! You have to walk up stairs to rooms. No elevator. But, staff takes care of taking your luggage to room. I had a top floor (5th) and my door opened to the roof with a wonderful view and a table and chairs and an old roof dance floor. I loved it. This is old, old Mexico right downtown. If you want a new USA styled hotel -- this is not for you.
If you are driving --- this city is different from others in Mexico. You drive into tunnels for most of downtown Guanajuato, driving. Can be scary.
