good choice!

Beautifully decorated and comfortable room. Loved the breakfast room and the view from there with sea lions swimming in the ocean while you have a good continental breakfast. Staff was very polite, nice and gave very useful information (especially the guy at the front desk). We had a nice stay! Thank you!

It was a perfect location between the airport, Orange County and Santa Monica.

If location means anything the Portofino is spot on!

Beautiful Hotel

Rooms were nice, bed was comfortable, shower was great. Front desk and rest of staff were friendly and helpful. Restraunt was excellant. Great place to stay if you don’t want to be in LA but want to be close by.

Manhattan Beach, just up the road (you need to drive)has neat shops and restraunts, Rodondo Beach, just a short walk away has a neat pier with places to eat and drink.

Although I lived in the area for many years, it was my first time to stay here. The service was great the moment I arrived and checked in. The view from the lobby, towards the bar were amazing. The rooms were fantastic, it had a yacht theme. Although I usually prefer modern decor, and much space, it was nice to have that sense of coziness. We had a wonderful time bicycling on Redondo Beach (first two hours is complementary). Most importantly I slept like a baby - full rejuvenation.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The jacuzzi room are only available on the 1st floors and make sure your room is facing the west (towards the ocean). Waking up to see yachts’ sailing is a wonderful feeling. Take advantage of the view till sunset, cause after sunset, you can’t really see anything.

Tranquil, waterfront hotel in the south bay

FYI it 45 minutes to everything. Malibu, the Getty, Hollywood, Venice, ect. But if you hanging around Manhattan, Redondo beach area

Great Place to Stay

We really enjoyed the views, location and the bikes. If you can afford it please reserve an oceanside room on a top floor. Beutiful sunsets!! So close to the Redondo Pier and Hermosa Beach. The free bikes were great.

Nice place to stay, to bike and to visit beaches

Great place to stay, friendly staff but commuication and honesty seems to be a big a problem. My lost designer glasses were not found after my room change. Even worse, I think they just have not taken my request seriously. I asked them to look for the forgotten glasses after a room change. A clear response within six days was not received, unbelievable???!!! We left our e-mail address to get a feedback. Nothing was heard up to date.

Great place to stay

Nice Hotel, great location, Food was very expensive, Parking cost extra each day even for the guests of the hotel. Don’t forget to add the cost of parking in your hotel budget.

Perfect Coastal Getaway

Portofino was beyond expectation! We loved the pleasing nautical decor, the comfortable beds and crisp linens, the bicycles for cruising down the strand, and the wonderful, kind service we received throughout our stay from the front desk to the daily housekeepers. Our first night we were on a ground floor. We expressed that we would like to move up to the 3rd floor, and they took care of it while we were away the next day. It was both relaxing and enjoyable. We will definately be back!

We found a lovely little restaurant in Riviera Village called "The Yellow Vase." We went there several times for breakfast. Also, The Cheesecake Factory is in walking distance. Ask to sit on the patio. It was delightful!

Who knew?

Who knew this place was so cute and cool? The marina view does look out over the parking lot, so if that’s important to you, get the ocean view. Room was awesome, bed comfy, lots to do, staff was way friendly! Would have loved to have stayed a few days and gone kayacking, borrowed the cruisers they offered, gone to Najas and had beer, and/or curled up by the fireplace in the lobby with a book and watched the boats go by.

Najas on the peir (which can seem sketchy) is REALLY great! Something like 82 kinds of beer and live music. Best churros in LA next to Najas. Also, kayack rental is great!

Charming view from the patio where sailing schools of small children,bigger sail boats and yachts passed closely.

Lot’s of unique shopping and dining only a few blocks a way in Redondo beach, as well as Hermosa beach.

Reserved again for next trip

I got an excellent rate and had a room on the water. It was quiet and conducive to working. Food at the restaurant was excellent. Nice area to walk.

Very Nice Stay

We had a pleasant stay. Very cozy! Great food at the Baleen. The rooms are a little small. Next time I will make sure to ask for a premium room. If you have children this is a great place to stay. You can walk to the Seaside Lagoon....a fun water themed park with slides, water features and swimming. The Redondo Beach pier is within walking distance.

If you happen to drive to the pier, make sure you ask local merchants if they validate parking. Most of the restaurants do.

Lovely Hotel

My boyfriend and I had the most relaxing time while staying at Portofino. The bed was the most confortable bed I have ever slept in. The hotel service was excellent. I will definitely go back again!

There is a bicycle rental place right near the hotel with great pricing. Bike up or walk to the Manhattan Beach!

Great Hotel! Highly Recommended, and will go back again!

Stayed in LA for business, found the Portofino perfect. Was able to plug in my iPhone for music in room, nice/clean gym, great area, great service. Highly recommended.

Very nice

I was very impressed with this hotel. They go out of their way to make you feel secluded from the rest of the area. The room was basic however, the view of the ocean water made the room what is was. You can comfortably sit and the patio, watch the sunset, without any distractions of the surrounding area. I would recommend this room for a weekend any weekend getaway.

Very nice Getaway

We had a very nice stay at this hotel...the rooms were great and to sit in this wonderful lobby with its benches and the view on the water...it was great to relax...my whole family loved it...the pool is not that big but my kids liked it...you can have any kind of service from drinks, food and new towels at the pool...we just had a bad experience with the room service on the last day...we ordered breakfast because the kids wanted to enjoy breakfast in bed...but after almost two hours of waiting we canceled the order...but the breakfast in the restaurant was great...we had it the day before...very good food and service... Overall we enjoyed this hotel and we would stay there again...

It is very nice to walk to the pier from the hotel...there are many little bars, fish restaurants and you can eat good ice cream...you can go out with a couple boats...don’t expect too much from the submarina boat...but only coming so close to the sea lions that you could almost touch them was a great experience for us and the kids...you can see lots of things there...

The hotel staff was very nice but they were understaffed. No hot water for almost the entire duration of the stay, air conditioner difficult to regulate and the bar in Baleen was packed with at least 3 different wedding partys. They should open the bar just off the lobby near the front desk for people that want a quiet drink.

Very acceptable

The location was superb, the people were friendly, and the marina was beautiful. Our room was clean and stylish. My only complaint is that being on the first floor left us susceptible to all kinds of loud thumping noise coming from above. At all hours.

I was very happy with the hotel and our accomodations. We did have trouble with the phone in our room, the hotel staff did try to fix the problem, but it was determined to be an equipment defect. All the staff was very accomodating.
