Bad Choice

Our room was across the street from the main hotel including the pool, and breakfast area. Room had no clock, tv received minimal chanels, beds well used. Loud late night guests with foul mouths awakened us a few times, I guess that is just the area. Continental breakfast was very lacking.

compleatly under-impressed

Before i start i have to say the people at the desk where very nice. but other than that our room seemed to be in shambles the sink didnt compleatly shut off so it driped all night. the shower head was a joke, the beds mis-shapen and uncomfortable, the deck off the room would have been nice if sombody had botherd to clean the dirty chairs or maybe take down all the cobwebs! but it looks like housekeeping isnt a big priorety, seeing as the didnt even empty the trash in the room, it looks like they came in made the beds and left.... just the bare minimum!! definitly not worth what i paid to stay there

Not impressed

Their maid service needs to do a better job of the daily cleaning of the room. Dressers and counters were dirty and never cleaned the whole time we were there.

Need some fixing up,but, Love the location and the price,

I have been coming to this hotel for years, it’s like a home away from home, but it is time for new beds and linens the showers didn’t work good, the air conditioner in our room 131 didn’t work, the TV remote had to be recoded to work two times in three days. On a good note the staff was friendly, the pool and spa were nice! Love the veiw of the pine trees from the pool area. This is a great place, it just needs some improvements!

Close to shops, casinos and the lake!

Service made up for a lot

The people who worked there were very friendly and responsive to requests. They went out of their way for special requests. The decor of the room is outdated, though the restroom had recently been updated. The room was clean however, it had a distinct smell to it. We were in a non-smoking room. Also, upon waking the morning after our first night stay, there were 2 dead flying bugs on the bathroom floor. Came from the ceiling vent? Over all we had a nice stay, but for the price, it could have been a little nicer. Also very convenient to the casinos. It is located a couple of blocks from the back parking lot of Harvey’s.

cheap overnight stay

hotel employees very helpful, great cheap place to lay your head for a nights rest. only bad thing was our door was not fitted properly to the door frame and made a very loud screeching sound while shutting the door, the medal door strip rubbing against the medal strip on ground below door. traveled with friends, their door was fine.

Great Price in South Lake

Very friendly, accomodating staff! I only stayed one night, but if I’m ever up in Tahoe again (I was there for a wedding), I will definitely stay again, it was a great deal! And within good walking distance of the casinos and bars!

Hotel sucks!!!!

first of all they put us across the street in the back away from the public, our friends were up in the front. Then we went out for a while and came back after 2:oclock and our room was not cleaned nor was the bed made. we called front desk there excuse was they were busy to get to our room. But our friends in the front, there room was cleaned, and they came back the same time as us.I ended up making the bed with same sheets.

Most budget-friendly, clean and convienient hotel in the area

We always stay here on our trips to Tahoe. The service is good, it’s never that crowded, and you can’t beat the price. Although we noticed a little wear and tear on some of the hallway concrete steps, and our door was loud when we shut it, it wasn’t really a big deal. I wasn’t in Tahoe to get frustrated about tiny issues, as every hotel has their share of them. You can’t beat the location either, 2 blocks from everything. We will continue to stay here on our future trips for sure!

Very Dissappointed

I was happy at the low per night price however I will be paying the extra money next time and staying at a known chain. I wish that I could upload pictures to this review so I can show you the rust and unrine stained mattress and the water logged bathroom walls. The bathtub still had dirty towels in it from the last lodger and most of the lamps and clocks were not plugged in. The window screen looked like someone had pried it open and the microwave was on the floor and unplugged. I am so glad that I took the time to clean all the surfaces with antibacteria wipes and Lysol spray on the sheets and in the tub before using the room. I asked for a handicapped accessible room and even called to confirm this.... what I received was a regular room with a step up to the outside area from the parking lot and a step up to the main room door. This place was horrible.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Make sure you can get some type of coupons for the buffets or local attraction like the Heavenly Gondola ride. Make sure to ask for the senior and childrens rates too.

Great deal for the price

Room was comfortable, spacious, clean, and quiet (several blocks off the main drag). For the budget conscious this is a great value. Minor negatives: covered drive entry was drippy and icy; parking was a bit limited but OK; bathroom light switch was outside of bathroom; continental breakfast was minimal (small room hard to accommodate guests). But I’d book here again in a heartbeat.

Second time customer lost forever.

During the summer of 2008, my wife and I chose to stay here because of the decent rate and the proximity to local attractions. It was a little dingy on the first stay but the price was worth it and the staff seemed nice. Upon our second stay this winter, we chose to never return to this motel again. The room had a broken heater adjustment so the heat just blared the whole time. We were forced to have the window open during a blizzard in order to keep from sweating. The TV had no buttons and the remote didn’t work (making it difficult to see the weather report during winter!) The ice machine was out of service. Plus there was more that was unpleasant about our stay that I don’t have room to enter. The final straw that forced our decision to never return: When notifying hotel management of our concerns, they said there was nothing they could do, they didn’t even offer an apology. After being required to pay for a minimum two night stay for the weekend, we feel like they had taken advantage of us. I would rather stay anywhere else, cheaper or not.

Looking for a place to sleep in peace NOT HERE

My wife and I stayed here for a night to get some skiing/snowboarding in, but other guests were up till 3-4am partying. Now I am not talking about loud guests partying in there room. I am talking about people coming in and out of the room all night scrraming in the parking lot and street in front of the Hotel. A staff member in on site all night and he could care less about all of the noise. Needless to say, we did not sleep! Also, room was pretty nasty, hairs all over the bathroom and carpets not vacuumed. I have stayed in places here in Tahoe for $26 per night and had cleaner and more enjoyable service.

Traveler's tip

Don’t stay here unless you plan to get wasted and scream all night...

Not bad for the money- Small pets only

Decent place, room was clean and pleasant. Not luxury, but not too bad either. Felt comfortable. Computer in lobby offered free net service, came in handy. SOME Pets are allowed, but only very small ones (I have a golden retriever, not welcome here, I was very disappointed, and staff were RUDE about a polite request), staff seemed to be making up the rules as they went along. We ended up staying here anyway, and leaving best friend home with a sitter, which basically undoes the savings, if you want to bring your pet, check out Fireside Lodge, all dogs welcome, its very nice but prices are higher though. Note, this place has ALOT of stairs, if you have a bad back or knees, you might want a more drive up to your room deal. Does have a decent fitness room, and supposedly a spa somewhere. Has outdoor ski lockers. Reasonable decent place with good rates. Maintenance and cleanliness of room was fine, coverlets were equivalent to other national econo chains (about like a days inn)

Bring Fido, but he better be TINY! if you want to bring your LARGE pet (I take my large golden retreivers to the mountains to play in the snow), check out Fireside Lodge BB, all dogs welcome, they are given a bed, doggy treat and water dish , its very nice but prices are higher (about 150 night)though, includes breakfast- I dont work for them, but I do return there with my big dogs when I want to bring them and still stay in a lovely nonsmoking room. Saddened they werent welcome here.

cheap, but not worth it.

I just wanted a nice clean simple place to stay rather than pay a fortune for the main casino resorts on the lake, but sheesh, after staying there, I would rather pay almost any cost. I felt like I was in a movie with one of the cheeziest motel the runaway bankrobbers stay at in the middle of the desert to hide out. stuff was falling apart, trash under the bed, table was crumbling chairs were so old I was even scared to sit on them. The only thing good was the location. only a block from the casinos and street. I had friends stay in other places right around the corner like the "block" hotel and Capri which I visited them and wow. what a difference. I guess I just got "unlucky".

this place would be for you if you were there to maybe change or shower, but not to stay. Like if you’re a truck driver or something just passing by and need a quick shower and a few hours rest, but not when on vacation. It will make you stay a whole lot less.

Not impressed

Best Tahoe West Inn A table was broken, toilet did not work, hole in the wall, dirty table/chair on balcony, etc. The bath tub had mat glued to buttom which was ripped open on both ends and did not allow for taking a bath which I would have enjoyed. Hot tub did not have steps to go in and was not working for 2 days. On plus sight: management did correct problems fairly quick (except for bath tub and I had to take showers) and to compensate for all the upset they refunded extra money that I paid for to have fridge/microwave in room. Don’t know if all the rooms are the same. Maybe we were just unlucky because other rooms we had a chance to look at appeared to be very nice and clean. The price is very good and I would recommend hotel (though with caution).

Not Impressed

The service was indifferent, we had asked for a room for a disabled amputee and were put on a second floor in a tiny room with hardly any more than 2 ft of walking space. TV was broken, no coffe pot, no hair dryer. When we complained they put us in a room for disabled. No closet, no remote (told us we couldn’t have one), no hairdryer, no coffee pot. The window was facing the pool so we couldn’t open the curtain without all the guests looking directly at us in the room. There was no way my amputee husband could watch tv without a remote. The room was bland, clean but stained floors. It was absolutely the worst room/hotel we had ever had to stay at - if we had a choice we would have left immediately. The staff was indifferent and unresponsive.
