Quality at great price!

Great overall ambiance and decor. Lobby area is nice and lots of room to seat and snack or have a drink. Location in the historic central district of Guadalajara is excellent- near to a vast number of sights. The surrounding areas and businesses around the Hotel were interesting and convenient. Never felt insecure walking around the area. Lots to see and experience within walking distances. Service was prompt and courteous. The room was nice and clean but not large. The one negative was the placement of the air condition unit over the bed. As a result when on, the air would blow onto the bed- very uncomfortable. However, the staff took care of this problem by redirecting the vents. The Hotel restaurant and food were excellent.

October was excellent time to go because of the festivities all month. The entertainment behind the Teatro Degollado as well as inside is outstanding. Weather is excellent as well.

Old-world elegance

This lovingly restored historic site is a beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay in the middle of all of the attractions of the downtown Guadalajara core. I’m a single woman who stayed there alone for four nights and felt that the staff couldn’t do enough for me. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful Hotel

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, loved the Colonia setting of the building very close to Downtown walking distance and all historical landmarks.

Not suggested to be out too late at night, the building is very safe, but during the night the surronding area of the hotel can be scarry.

hotel morales

It was a wonderful stay and there is nothing like staying downtown and exploring. We stayed a week in a couple of different places and locations throughout the city and Morales was great. I would stay there again, it was very reasonable and in the middle of everything. If you are planning to go out downtown or to colonia chapultepec towards avenida vallarta and all the great night life and exquisite restaurants, you will find yourself close enough or within a 3 dollar cab ride.

Beatiful Hotel

We were there in May, we have a 6 month old baby and a 5 year old child. It was a beatiful hotel close to the main attractions downtown. Everybody was very helpful, they have valet parking, you can even borrow a crib if you want to. I highly recommend this hotel, if you want to blend with the locals, this is the place to be. You can just go outside and take the bus or walk to the plaza, is 2 blocks away.

There’s a lot of small restaurants, but all of them were very good. Try to eat around the area for best value.

Loved the Stay!

This hotel is great, it was within walking distance to everything. The staff gave us a great tip where to eat (La Chata). Would stay there again!

Traveler's tip on dining

La Chata; very good authentic Mexican food at very resonable prices. Both locals and travelers go there to eat.

Beauty, Comfort, Convenience

The Hotel Morales has had some beautiful updating done. It is a fabulous old colonial building with stunning inside courtyards. The room was very clean and comfortable. The updated bathroom was great. It is an easy walk to the cathedral and all the other wonderful old historic sites of the city. The one and only drawback is that during our visit (spring 09) the roads were being rebuilt. Perhaps that is why the room rate was so reasonable. A great hotel at any price.

Much more interesting than a typical chain hotel

A charming hotel with lots of historical character. I would definitely recoomend this hote for someone looking for a hotel that is a little different than the usual hotel chain. Well-maintained, clean, friendly staff, and definitely easy on the wallet. The only down-side is that the streets in the area are under construction, so it was a bit messy in the area. But for the price of the hotel, that was tolerable.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Free wi-fi in the lobby and in the restaurant. Free computer/internet access in the lobby.

very impressed

Pleasantly surprised. By far the most luxurious hotel we’ve stayed in recent history. It was a real bargain with special Expedia discount. Very attractive room and hotel in general. Historic building with thorough renovation bringing it up to date, Rooms not overly large, but well designed and comfortable. Soundproof windows and ’juliet’ balcony. All very 1st class at a bargain price. Only real problem I see is the elevator. There seems to be just one and it’s not very big. I can’t imagine what happens when there is a large group or if hotel is busy or there are parties in banquet rooms on top floors. We had no problem since hotel seemed quite empty and no big events happening. It is pretty unusual that they would do such a thorough renovation, and yet have just a single elevator.

Lovely Spanish colonial building in historical Guadalajara. Staff helpful. Good location for exploring Guadalajara. Make sure that renovations in historical area are completed before staying in this district!

As Advertised

After seeing the glowing reviews of this Historic District hotel, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised that the reviews were accurate! Although the street in front of the hotel happened to be under construction, everything else about the hotel was more than satisfactory. Clean, well-managed, courteous and helpful staff, nice size-rooms. A great value if you are looking for a location that is right in the middle of the historic sights.

Great Hotel in Centro

I have stayed at the Morales many times, and it is a very nice hotel, and GREAT value for dollar. The best rooms are 205, 206, 305, 306 as they are interior rooms in the quietest part of the hotel.

Will go back for sure

Had a great experience. Concierge and front desk services were great. It is in the middle of the historic place. Walking distance to the market, eating places (good ones), and central spot to go everywere if need be. Also walking distance to the tour buses.

Historic Hotel in downtown Guadalajara

Hotel Morales is located in the historic area of downtown Guadalajara. You can walk to most of the major sights of the city. Plenty of good restaurants are nearby. The hotel is built in Spanish colonial style with open inside courtyards. For a quiet room, you want one that opens onto a courtyard, not onto the busy street outside. My room was clean and attractive. The hotel staff were very helpful. But be warned that some hotels employees speak only limited English or none at all. This is a good place to stay if you want to experience the real Mexico. If, like me, you don’t speak Spanish, you may have some difficulties in communication.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The museums, the rodeo (charreadas), and other attractions have very low admissions prices. You should know that most museums, the zoo, and such are closed on Mondays.

Amazingly Great

Three guys, three rooms. Other two guys giving me grief before we got there because they didn’t believe it could be as good as the reviews indicated. They thought I screwed up royally. Not so. We all loved it. We remarked how great it was sitting at breakfast the next morning. Fantastic. Best value around.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL ... wish I could have stayed longer!!!!

we were only at the Hotel Morales for 1 night, and I wish we could have stayed longer... the rooms were very spacious, the beds were very comfortable with extra soft pillows... a change from what is usually in Mexican hotels. Unfortunatly we were not able to explore the area but will be back again for a longer stay.

Cave-like room

The room we first had was like a cave--no windows and very dark. Noise came in from the lobby late at night. We complained and changed rooms and it was better. We had paid for an upgraded room and it wasn’t worth it. The hotel is right downtown which was noisy and dirty.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel is close to the Orozco murals and other attractions.

Hotel Morales is a nice colonial style hotel.

This is a lovely colonial hotel. It’s location is very close to the centre of the city. The rooms are well decorated and modern, however the toilet floor was disty in the corners and didn’t appear to be mopped or brushed on a regular basis. Also, we could hear loud music from a bar or a club late into the weekend nights. Apart from this is was a nice hotal and fairly priced.

Traveler's tip on dining

The La Chata restaurant on the same street as the hotel is a great place for breakfast and lunch, cheap, with great food and service.
