Rather good choice
The hotels lobby was recently renovated and now its time to do the rooms. Small, outdated bathroom is not worth 4-star nomination. Take away 3ft from the (spacious) bedrooms and expand the bathroom. Worth mentioning are the excellent mattresses! Breakfast buffet was outstanding and exceeded expectations (both western as well as Asian style). Two great pools as well as the beach to relax on (deck chairs available; little umbrellas, however). Great choice when youre vacationing with kids! Approx. 4 restaurants on-site.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Hire local driver (USD 55/day). Distances are not huge, but going somewhere takes a while (and thats the charm of this rather unspoiled tourist island). Ubud: apart from the evident sights, walk thru the rice fiels, Taro (elephant safari), dolphin watching on the Indian Ocean, Hindu temples everywhere you look (impressive "spring" temples), monkey forests aso. August is a good time to go there: hardly any insects, temp. 84F/28C, nice breeze. Noticable is high level of English.

Good hotel
Very nice pools and garden. Good situation near the beach. Food : depends on the restaurant and the chef (beach side seafood was good in the evening) - other restaurants : boring (unless there is a Balinese dance in the garden and then, youll have a great time - check the schedule). Bathroom could be cleaner. Lots of walking from the temporary reception to the room (big hotel). New reception will soon be ready and more convenient. As another customer was writting : the hotel is a bit old and you can see it in some places, but nothing terrible.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Sanur : not big interest and staying in Nusa Dua is probably a better choice.

ocean- ants
We stayed in the Junior suite with our 2 children. The pool, ocean view was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There were a parade of ants frequently visiting, but they didnt take up much space. There are many restaurants on the beach just outside of the hotel and you can schedule tours from the hotel.
