Beautiful hotel in the heart of everything.
The Avenida Palace is near Las Ramblas, in two blocks of Gaudi architecture, and near the square to catch the hop on hop off buses. The hotel itself is luxurious and the hotel staff are very helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The beautiful rose wood on the walls and closets and even in the elevator gave a feel of richness. I would definately stay there in the future.
We ate in Placa De Real at a place called La Quince Nit , and had the famous sandwich at Cafe Vienna on Las Ramblas and tapas at Cuitat Comtal at l8 Rambla De Catalunya right down from our hotel. We also went to a Flamingo dance show at the Spanish Village that was outstanding.

great place to check out barcelona
room was nice, hotel was right off las ramblas, 20 min walk from the beach, just down the street from the gothic quarter, the aquarium downtown is very tiny so don’t expect too much. Overall great stay at this hotel. You don’t need the metro to get around the city, but in case you do, there is one metro stop right in front of the hotel. The cafe’ Obama right next door is a great place for breakfast and much cheaper than the hotel breakfast.
eat breakfast at the local cafes. and instead of using the big tour bus, rent the little yellow car, it has a navigation system.

Great Hotel
A few words...great hotel, great location, great staff. When we go back to Barcelona one day, this would be our first choice.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
There is a lot to do here. Research the area and have a plan. Take a day trip to Montserrat. In barcelona use the hop on hop off bus. Lots of historical sites. Great Tapas. Enjoy, we did.
