no elevator, poor service
This hotel looks good from the outside, but once you are there you soon realize it is not the best choice around. No elevator and all rooms are upstairs. The stairs are steep, narrow and difficult to negotiate with bags etc. They have no one to assist you with your bags when you arrive. Poor directions on getting to the room. My granddaughter(7 yrs) and I ended up in a bar after negotiating many stairs with our baggage. So back down the stairs and to the desk for better instruction. I would have expected to be lead to my room by then with some help. Anyway, we finally did find the horrible staircase that led to our third floor room. I did manage to negotiate a change of room one floor down but still no assistance. I could have stayed in a three star hotel for a few bucks more. Would never never stay here again and do not recommend it. If you dont mind all this, the room was not that bad if a bit outdated and dark. Oh and the pool is not heated or at least not well heated. Could have jumped in the bay!
Traveler's tip on dining
Restaurants are extremely expensive in Victoria. For a good, quick and fun meal try the Noodle Box. A couple of blocks off the beaten path, but well worth it. Especially for families. For heat, step it down a notch if you dont like hot food. I ordered mild and could have had very mild. It was excellant though and a fun experience. Very busy so expect to wait in line. Not much seating either. Spaghetti factory is still a pretty good bargain in Victoria. Most restaurants are pretty upscale.

Need to do a better job of informing customers about Pets & Smoking
When we booked the room it did not state that you can have pets in the rooms. We would have never booked if we would have known this first. The color of the pictures of the room do not match the three rooms we were moved to. There is only a view of the Gorge if you walk to one side of the building to the end of the hall. The day we were leaving room service (yes, our do not disturb sign was hanging on the door) started banging on the door just before 9am and did it two more times trying to clean the room. My family was woke up all three times and on the second time she even tried to open up the room with her key.
