Excellent Venice Accomodations

The hotel is located on a canal near St. Marks Square. Its central location makes it very easy to get around all of Venice. The room was small but very comfortable. My son and I both managed to stay in the room without killing each other. The food at the restaurant was very good but quite pricey. I cannot compliment the Concierge enough. She was extremely helpful in making reservations, recommending resaurants and sites and arranging airport transportation. It was a delight to stay at this hotel.

Pre-cruise hotel stay

Great location between Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square. Althought not right on the Grand Canal can take water taxi right up to hotel entrance. Easy walking distance (5-10 min.) from many tourist attractions. Standard room somewhat small but adequate. Good morning buffet breakfast.

Great service

Arrived in Venice early and room was not ready so we asked for suggestion on where to eat lunch. The next thing we knew, the hotel had one of their employees take us to a restaurant. We followed him through the streets to a fantastic place. The buffet breakfast was one of the best. After a long day of sightseeing,it was great to sit in one of the lounges overlooking the canal. Great central location. Highly recommended.

Best Location in Venice

Exquisite is the only term that I can use to describe this hotel. The Staff are professional, personable, and yet down to earth. THE ROOM absolutely floored us when we arrived. This was our first time in Venice, and when we go back, we WILL STAY at Star hotels Splendid. It’s only a 1 minute walk from the Piazza San Marco, and a 2 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, and a 4 minute walk from the "Bridge of Sighs" and the Grand Canal, this is the perfect location if you want to stay in the best part of Venice WE ARE GOING BACK!!! The orchestras playing each night in Piazza San Marco were like nothing we’ve ever experienced.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Have an afternoon nap for an hour, have dinner at one of the sidewalk ( canal side) restaurants, and STAY in the Piazza San Marco to watch the orchestras as they try to out do each other!!!!

Clean, Modern Hotel with Great Location

Hotel was very easy to find-- straight shot from the Rialto Bridge water ferry stop. Location of hotel is great. About half way between the Rialto Bridge and St. Marco Square. Rooms are modern and extremly clean. Hotel also serves a great breakfeast-- one of the best I have had on my European travels.

canalside venice hotel

This is a nice canal side Venice hotel with very nice if smallish hotel rooms common to historic buildings. They were very comfortable and attractive. Our only complaint was the "typical" European bathroom that had an unenclosed shower with just a curtain and a drain in the corner,so water ended up all over the lovely marble floor. The hotel was well located very close to St. Marks Square and great shopping. Morning breakfast was included with fresh fruit, eggs, pastry, and meat. There are lots of places for lunch and dinner nearby.

Traveler's tip

Make sure you bring specific directions to walk to the hotel if you take a vaporetto or allilaguna boat. The streets are confusing to a first timer and we were lost and even the locals had trouble telling us where it was. A water taxi will take you direct but it costs 100 euro.

Very clean and close to bus stops

The hotel is away from downtown but their bus and taxi service is very good. It is clean and everyone was very professional.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

More attractions then you can see in a day or two.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Venice

I got a great deal on this hotel and it was definitely worth it!! Located midway between San Marco square and the Rialto bridge. You really can’t get much better than that! Also, it was extremely quiet in our room which overlooked a canal! From S. Marco square looking at the big clock opposite the boat docks, turn right, walk 50 feet. see a tiny corridor. Take walkway and look for signs that say ospedal (blue hospital signs about 10 feet up) then come to a larger walkway. come up to a Cartier store, turn left and follow straight up to a canal bridge, hotel on your left! bring a water bottle with you! fountains scattered throughout. further you walk from the hotel, cheaper the gelato/food,etc. Bring map and use a compass! Take advantage of the water buses.

Highly Recommended!

We couldn’t have asked for a better hotel stay in Venice. The service we received was top-notch. The location was perfect. The breakfasts were great. The room was amazing...and, we had a view of a canal. I would highly recommend this hotel if your travels ever take you to this magical city.

Perfectly Located and How to Find the Place

It is only a 3 or 4 minute walk to either St Marks or Rialto. The central location allows the chance to go back to the room to rest or to beat midday heat and crowds. We received wonderful service all the way around, front desk, restaurant, maid service. Our room included breakfast and it was extremely pleasant in terms of food, beautiful setting and service. Our first room was noisy (music from a store on the street below) and we were moved to a very nice canal room. Turns out that the 2nd room had an unpleasant smell when we ran the A/C. We were offered another room but because we LOVED this canal view we decided to accept a can of air freshener and stay put. We would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. Every time we walked in we said "man this is a great hotel." A word on finding the place. Forget street names, just follow landmarks. From St Mark’s Square walk under the Clock Tower, walk that street until you see the Ferrari Store & turn right. Then turn left at the Cartier Store. Then when you see the Timberland Store turn left & you are there. We were traveling lightly so went cheap & took public transportation from the airport. (Bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma, then vaporetto to St Marks then walked to the hotel) If you consider yourself even the lightest bit adventurous save money ($150 one way for water taxi) & go public transportation. Keep in mind that you do have to lift your suitcase up the stairs of a couple bridges between the vaporetto dock & St Marks.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you are traveling lightly it is not hard at all to avoid the high cost of a water taxi ($150) from the airport to Venice. Keep in mind that you will have to lift your suitcases up the stairs of any bridge between where you land and where your hotel is. Take the public bus (2 euro) parked right at the exit of the airport about 20 minutes across the bridge to Venice’s transportation center Piazzale Roma. From there jump on a vaporetto (6.50 euro) to anywhere in Venice.

Great location

5 minutes to either the Piazza San Marco or the Rialto Bridge.

Traveler's tip

Directions to hotel were very confusing. The map on the website is too small to be helpful.

Great hotel in awesome location

The hotel is right in between San Marco and Rialto Bridge...near to all major locations. The room decor was ultra-modern and bathrroms were spacious!!! But it gets even better - the breakfast is very elaborate and helped us easily skip lunch (food in Venice is EXPENSIVE)

Looking forward to returning

The hotel was very nice and centrally located between the Railto Bridge and San Marco square on a small canal. The basic room was small which is not unusual in Europe and nothing we couldn’t deal with. My only complaint would be the hardwood floors were not clean upon our arrival. They felt like there was dirt/dust all over when walking around barefoot. The next two days however they seemed better. The only other criticism would be the hotel staff at the front desk was not overly helpful or friendly. Overall, we would stay here again when we visit Venice.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Be sure to wear comfortably walking shoes and definitely visit the other islands - Murano, Burano, Lido, etc.

Good For Venice

We were just there one night and it was clean, good staff and a good morning breakfast. The condition of the hotel is ok, not 100% but overall we felt comfortable. We had our 1 year old with us and they provided a crib however the state of the crib was horrendous. Overall I recommend it plus they have a/c which in summer in Italy is a must.

Breath of fresh air

It was a delight to find an American type hotel with all the amenities of home! Venice was very hot and muggy, as was most of Italy, so walking into cool air and a spacious room with all the bells and whistles we are accustomed to rather than a typical European hotel was a treat! Great location. Kind staff. Very nice breakfast buffet included. Would highly recommend.

VERY PLEASED

GREAT LOCATION ROOM WAS SMALL NOT ENOUGH SPACE TO UNLOAD 2 LARGE LUGGAGE BUT STILL VERY SATISFIED WITH THE STAFF AND CLEANLINESS OF THE HOTEL.TAKE THE WATER TAXI #1 OR #2 TO THE RIALTO BRIDGE.THE HOTEL IS ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE CANAL AS THE STOP. 5 MINUTE WALK BUT ASK FOR DIRECTIONS THE LOCALS KNOW THE HOTEL.

Traveler's tip on dining

DON’T EAT AT THE TOURIST TRAP RESTAURANTS ALONG THE CANAL AT THE RIALTO. GO TO AL PARADISO NEAR THE RIALTO BRIDGE FOUND IT IN ZAGAT EXCELENT AND AFFORDABLE.

A nice, comfortable hotel, no complaints at all!

We spent the last 2 days of our honeymoon at this hotel. It was centered in the shopping district and was easily accessible. A short walk to the Ponte Rialto and San Marco. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was awesome with a great view of the canal. They also served a delicious breakfast.

Great hotel

We travel Europe extensively, and this hotel matches up with the best. It’s very clean, beautifully decorated, and has a high quality staff. It is located in a very nice area of Venice within a relatively short walk to major sites. Breakfast is excellent. The restaurant staff were particularly friendly and competent.

Best choice in Venice for comfort, service, location and price.

This a lovely and modern hotel tucked on a side canal egual distance from San Marco and the Rialto. While in the middle of one of the busiest areas of Venice, it is tucked off the main throughfare and provides a quiet oasis in the middle of the busy, upscale shopping and tourist district. The staff was kind, always helpful and multi-lingual. We will certainly stay at the Splendid on our next visit to Venice and recommend the hotel to anyone we know traveling to Venice.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

While the Splendid is at the hub of the busy Rialto and San Marco districts, The best way to see Venice is walking the local neighborhoods and getting off the tourist "beaten path". While few Venetians not working in the tourist industry speak English, a little Italian will carry you through. Go to visit the busy areas very early in the day, have a nice lunch in one of the side street cafe’s and spend the afternoons walking the local districts away from the tourist centers.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This is a good value for travelers looking for a nice clean room, a comfortable bed, and a complimentary breakfast. It’s located in the heart of the tourist area-great for us as our visit was shortened by the flight delays, but we still managed to see alot.

Very nice hotel

Everything in Venice is so expensive. Splendid Venice was a very good value. Not outrageously priced, fabulous room.
