A good bargain
With most of Fresno’s motels charging over $100/night after room taxes, it’s nice to have a reasonably priced option that is conveniently located a block from Fwy 41 and central to the city, whether you’re just passing through or staying for a few days. We’ve stayed here a half dozen times when visiting our grandchildren who live near Fresno State. Rooms are larger than budget motel options, and the complimentary breakfast offers a choice of cereals, juices, breads and bagels, and waffles, plus tea and coffees. There’s no need to eat somewhere else unless you have special dietary needs, though there is a Denny’s restaurant next door. Even if you’re traveling through on Hwy 99, you can reach this motel in 10-15 minutes by taking the Fwy 180 connector to Fwy 41 and end up in a better setting than the motels on Fwy 99. On our latest visit, we found free copies of The Fresno Bee for guests in the lobby.
Fresno is very hot in summer and can be bone chilling during the winter ground fog season. Spring and Fall are the best times to visit. Visit the San Joaquin River Parkway on Fresno’s northern edge. Maps and info are available from the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust located in the riverbottom off Friant Road. Fresno’s Woodward and Roeding Parks are also good places to let children burn off their energy.
