Nice place in Cusco

Overall, I liked the hotel very much. I did have some bad mildew in my bathroom during my second of 2 stays which was cleaned up very quickly. The food was wonderful there. The Alpaca and the club sandwich were both worth recomending. There is a slight problem with the closing of doors around the hotel. Very loud at times. It does tend to echo thru the place. If you are a person who goes to bed early like me, this didn’t make me to happy. But, in defence of the staff, it was more the guest shutting the doors and not the staff that made the noise. The place was in a good location. Just a few minute walk to the main squares. All though, I would have never guest there was a nice place there to stay at based on the back alley road we were on. Definitly not on the "main road", but just off the "main road".

I was there in early november and the weather was nice. mid 60’s for a low and upper 70’s for a high. 70% or greater in humidity.

Great Service and Price

The hotel surprised us by picking us up from the airport. The service and staff were great! We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel also was also able store our luggage while we trekked to Machu Picchu. I would recommend this hotel!

Not a nice room

The location is nice, 5 blocks from the main square. The hotel is a nice old house rebuilt as a hotel, nicely redecorated. Also, everybody is very kind. Unfortunately the room I was given (103) was so small it can hardly fit a double bed. The storage place is a small cabinet with 4 drawers on the bottom fill with extra blankets and pillows and the top a small hanger space half the regular length. The bathrooms was better but with only a small shelf that contained 2 soap bars and a small shampoo bottle that were never replaced in the 5 days I was there. The room door and window exit immediately to a cover court yard that was converted into the dining room so starting at 5:30 in the morning it felt as if I was inside the dining room with all the gests. Another inconvenience is a 8 am check out time. This hotel is hardly a 3 1/2 stars hotel.

Very Efficient!

This hotel made our stay in Cusco, Peru, a more enjoyable experience. Especially the staff, they were all helpful, informed and friendly. From their recommendations for a traveler with "soroche" to the menu to choose for this altitude sickness. They were prompt to assist with scheduling our tours and other trip necessities.

great service, value, comfort

We loved this hotel. We stayed 3 seperate nights over a 2 week period. Every employee was extremely helpful. It’s a very short walk to the huge market, and a short walk to Plaza de Armas (great shops/restaurants). The pillows were a bit big and hard, but other than that, everything was great. There’s even a free computer to use w/ internet and a great (included) breakfast.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

There’s a great Irish pub in Plaza de Armas (I think it’s called "Paddy’s". They sell a t-shirt that says "No Gracias" on the chest. Make that your first purchase in Cusco and wear it daily around town. You’ll thank me later.

an excellent choice

We were very pleased with our stay. The staff was genuinely nice; friendly and helpful. The concierge was helpful and efficient. The location was a good one we found, although it was a short walk to the main plaza.

Clean, comfortable

The rooms are small, but the hotel is comfortable and clean. Free internet service, good breakfast. It is located three blocks from main square, which is a good but not great location.

Frindly and Professional

The hotel is located a walking distance from Plaza de Armas and close to nice restaurants. The staff at Terra Andina is very friendly and professional. They really make you feel like you are at home. The hotel is clean and the superior rooms are very comfortable. I recommend this hotel to friends and relatives.

A great hotel, service is excellent

The staff was amazing, they picked us up at the airport which was not initially included, upon arrival they offer you an excellent mate de coca to help you deal with the altitude sickness and a coupon for a pisco sour and local roasted corn. The breakfast was great and is open early for our convenience as we had to leave to Poroy to catch our train. Two blocks away from the main attractions, a PC with internet and readily available staff if you need to arrange any trips. The room was very clean, TV/cable available, a safe and a hot shower at all times. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you want to get local souvenirs, make it at nighttime as during the day no vendors are located on the streets. Phone calls can be made from some locals on your way to plaza de armas at a very good price. Also, buy your train tickets online to Machu Picchu way in advance.

An excellent hotel in Cusco, great service, great staff, great value

We completely enjoyed our stay at the Terra Andina. At the airport, they had our name on a sign waiting to take us to the hotel. At the hotel they had us sit in the lounge area and served us coca tea until our rooms were ready. Our rooms were clean, quiet, and nicely decorated. The staff was very helpful in arranging our transportation to and from the train stations for our trip to Machu Picchu. Due to the strike going on, they also helped us change our train reservations to go to MP the following day. They also secured the bus tickets for us from Aguas Calientes to MP as well as entrance tickets into Machu Picchu. All of this would have been quite a hassle without their help. The hotel is 4 blocks from the Plaza de Armas, which is just beautiful and a great place to relax and people watch.

Take it slow your first day in Cusco. Don’t do too much walking around, you will feel the difference in your respiration. It took my family and me 1 1/2 days to acclimate to the altitude and feel 100% again. Also, avoid eating in outdoor restaurants. The vendors are relentless, they come right up while you are eating your meal, not a very nice dining experience. All in all, an amazing city.

Loved it there

It was close to all kinds of things. Great Market one block away at end of street. Just a few minutes to the Playa Armas (main square). We stayed in room 208 which was apparently the best room they had. The staff really took care of us.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Skip the main cathedral (rip off), go to the Santo Domingo instead. The parade and dancing before Inti Raymi are better than the main event. Check out the back side of Sexy-Woman to see the giant rocks the locals slide down.

Great place!

The staff were all very attentive to our needs. The bed was so comfortable and hot water with excellent pressure. The restaurant had a wide selection of items, all of which were very good. It was also in a good location to the Central Market and San Pedro plaza. It was a short 5 10 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas. All in all an excellent hotel and I can’t wait to return.

Great Pisco Sours too!

Terra Andina Hotel is beautiful. Great courtyard when you first walk in. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. You’ll get a free pisco sour coupon when you check in... don’t forget to redeem it -- it’s delicious, and comes with these awesome corn nuts. The hotel is right next to San Pedro market -- interesting local market, cheap food, not the best for tourist souvenirs, but definitely go there for lunch and to browse and people watch. They don’t actually have a shuttle to/from the airport (they said they did, but no one picked us up, and later they said that they don’t). It should only be 7 soles (a little over $2) from the airport in a taxi though. It’s further from the main square, but I loved the location - less touristy, close to San Pedro and San Francisco Square, walking distance (1/2 mile) to the Plaza de Armas where all the touristy things are.

I shall return

the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Free wireless internet worked perfectly. one complimentary drink upon arrival plus all the mata tea you could drink! Excellent location, 10 minute walk to plaza de armas. only minor problem is the noise from the restaurant and lobby is heard through the poorly sealed room door.

Comprehensive service saved my trip!

I got sick from some ceviche in Lima, and Cusco made me better! Terra Andina was a huge part of that. They had someone meet me at the airport. He got me past all the hustlers, quickly delivered me to the hotel and took care of ALL the paperwork I needed to get to Macchu Pichu (pickup of train tickets, Macchu-Pichu ticket, etc), at a time when I was too ill to do so myself. At the hotel there was a limitless supply of mate tea, which was about all I could keep down. Without these guys my trip to Macchu Pichu would’ve been a bust! The staff were courteous and helpful, and the hotel was very charming. I’d definitely go back to Terra Andina!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

You get swarmed by hustlers at the airport. If you book a hotel in advance, try to ask the hotel if they arrange transportation into the city.
