Nice view, small beds
I think the Teneguia is a nice hotel, but there are definitely some pros and cons. The pros include its location close to Playa Jardin, the nicest beach in Puerto. No matter which way your room faces, you can always have a nice view of the beach by walking down the balcony hallway or from your own room balcony. The hotel is also just off the main touristy area, so you dont get the noise, but youre still just a short walk away from restaurants and entertainment. The hotel room was decent enough, and it had a kitchenette, which is always nice to prepare some snacks or breakfast. My main beef with this hotel is that the beds were actually very small. They were advertised as twin beds, but they are very obviously small singles. The other complaint I have is that the concierge did not know how to operate the switchboard and he absolutely could not figure out how to send calls to my room. The phones were also rotary, and I could not use my calling card, so I had to make phone calls from the payphone in the lobby. Overall I think the hotel was ok, it was clean enough and nice enough, but definitely not the most luxurious Ive ever been to.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
I found two nice little restaurants called La Papa and OHorreo Gallego on a little side street off of Plaza del Charco. These restaurants seemed more authentic and were much less crowded the the restaurants on Plz del Charco, which La Papa serving Canary Island specialties. I definitely recommend exploring some of the side streets.
