Aranvert Hotel Kyoto

Amazing surprise: wonderful Kyoto cuisine!

The restaurant’s menu did not prepared us to this wonderful dinner. The menu looks awful, we were expecting having for this last night in Kyoto an average mid western-mid japanese meal. The breakfast buffet is delicious, abundant with plenty of choice. The staff has been very helpful, dedicated and charming.

Aranvert lives up to its rating as a three star hotel. It is clean and comfortable. Everything works so we had a very pleasant stay. I recommend this accommodation to tourists in Kyoto. And it is near the train station.

1 word - FANTASTIC

My husband and I satyed here a few weeks ago and I could not have asked for a more wonderful experience. My husband lost his wedding band and the housekeeper returned it to the front desk..in a world like today this was so greatly appreciated.The rooms are small as is all hotels in Japan unless you pay an arm and a leg. But emaculately clean!The ladies at the front desk were unbelievably helpful and patient. They gave directions to us, flagged taxis down for us, reccommended places to see and eat etc. I would definitely go there again with my eyes closed!

A Nice Surprise

To be honest I did not know what to expect from the hotel when I first reserved it. From the moment the first pairs of friendly smiles to the very last friendly smiles I was given at check-out I truly enjoyed my time there. The public bath was fantastic and it provided a wonderful view of the city. The bathrooms are a little small, but the bath is the place to be go when you need to bathe.

Clean and Comfortable Place

This hotel is a clean and comfortable one. It is ten-fifteen minutes walk to Kyoto train station. There are restaurants and markets around the hotel. The information desk is friendly and helpful.

A very good choice

We stayed in a semi double room for 3 nights in May ’09. We were extremely happy with the service we received and with the cleanliness of the room. The room is quite small, but if you are expecting this and don’t have large luggage, the size is not a problem (or at least we didn’t think so). Although the hotel room was not shiny and new, it was well maintained and clean. It came with lots of toiletries, a stocked mini fridge, kimonos, and slippers. The room was made up and towels were replaced every day. The hotel’s located in a decent area--in the middle of Kyoto Station and the popular Shijo-dori area. Both destinations were about a 15-minute easy walk away. Is this the best hotel at the best price in the city? Probably not. But it’s a solid choice at a decent price. We were very happy with our decision to stay at the Aranvert during our entire time in Kyoto, and I really can’t think of anything negative to say about our stay.

Excellent but a semi-double room is a little bit small for a couple

Very clean and nice hotel. Next time we will withhold ourselves from a semi-double room since it was too small for a couple - It was difficult for us to find a room for our suitcases..

Nice stay

We stayed here because everything else was sold out or extremely expensive. Good location, very friendly and trustwhorty front desk staff, small but nice and clean room. It really served it’s purpose, since Kyoto is such a nice city that you will not be in the room but to sleep. Good choice.

Clean and comfortable with quality service

The Aranvert is surprisingly clean, and the service is quite accommodating, especially for English speakers. It’s only a block away from a subway station and within walking distance of Kyoto Station. It even features a public bath, a nice addition for a hotel to have. It’s a great value, and I would certainly go back.

Traveler's tip

While the Aranvert is within walking distance of Kyoto Station, when first arriving, I recommend you take the subway. You go north just one stop. This will help you get acquainted with the layout of the city.

Average hotel but close to subway

We had limited choices for hotel selection the weekend we visited Kyoto. The Aranvert is about a 5- minute cab ride or 15-minute walk from Kyoto station and is about 2 blocks south of a subway station. The hotel lobby is clean and fairly modern but the rooms are a little dated and old smelling. Even the non-smoking rooms smell a bit but at least you can open the window and air it out. We had three adults staying in a room together and while it was a little tight, it was decent. The hotel is a little out of the way and isn’t surrounded by anything interesting. Fortunately, it’s only a 15-minute walk to get to the shopping district or station where more is going on. There’s not that much to eat around the hotel so we always ate before coming back to the hotel area. It was nice to have the subway station so close by though. Overall - decent hotel and not too expensive.

The CoCo Curry house nearby is a good option for something quick and good.

Hotel Aranvert

Good location, 5 minutes from JR train station, 2 blocks from subway. Beautiful lobby. Friendly, English-speaking staff. Cheap restaraunt for lunch.

Great Choice

Great hotel. Nice quiet location and extremely helpful staff. I would stay there again!!!
