Very nice experience

I needed a last minute room for a business meeting, I booked it here due to its proximity to the meeting and price. The quality of the room far exceeded any of the hotels nearby (including the Hilton at more than twice the rate) and I would definitely look to stay there again in the future.

Very Nice

Stayed at the hotel one night. Loved the room and the view. Didn’t like that the parking garage was across the street but it was exercise. Heater/AC unit is way to loud. Other then that the hotel was very nice room was very nice and will probably stay there again. Hopefully they will do something about the Heater/AC units the noise is good.

Great place but there are things they don’t tell you

7 dollars a day parking charge. 1 dollar a day safe fee whether you use it or not. 30 bucks a week or 5 bucks a day charge for internet service. 8 bucks for CONTINENTAL breakfast. They give you towels to use at the pool but if they aren’t all accounted for when you leave they charge you 25 bucks a towel. If they were up front about this stuff we would have been fine with it so I don’t know why they don’t just tell you to begin with. Also while you stay here they will try to sell you a time share. At first we said no but then they wore us down with a promised 100 dollar visa card if we sat through a 90 minute sales pitch. If you get a call asking you to come down and get a "welcome packet" that means come down and we’ll try to sell you a time share. The weather was bad so we figured we’d do it. Some more catches there. The 100 dollars was only good for the stores and restaurants that the developers of the hotel own in virginia beach. They own the good ones so we used it for dinner at Catch 31 and Rock Fish. But we thought we were getting 100 bucks to go home with. Also if you have kids they have a clause that if your kid disturbs the 90 minutes sales pitch, that actually lasted 2 hours, they don’t have to give you your gift. The hotel itself was great and luxurious. The indoor pool was a godsend for our kid since the weather was bad while we were there. But like I said the room and the hotel was gorgeous and nice so ultimately it was worth it and we will go back.

I don’t get the food at Virginia Beach. It all sucks. We’ve been there two years in a row now and the only place we have enjoyed the food was Catch 31. Dinner there is very pricing but the lunch prices are the same as any place else at the beach.

Definitely coming back

We don’t get time away very often and it was a very relaxing time spent in luxery. I only wish there was a restaurant other than the little bar because it was a hassle to go a block in the rain to a parking garage to drive to a place to eat. That was my only peeve since it rained 3 of the 4 days we were there. Everything else was wonderful!

I loved that a lot of the restaurants allow you to charge your meals directly onto your room bill so that you do not have to worry about carrying money or credit cards! That was very convenient. If you get a chance, eat at Salacia....TO DIE FOR!!!!

Not impressed

This was supposed to be an elegant hotel and adheres to cleanliness. I called the hotel customer services from 10:00 am to 5:30 p.m. requesting for room services to clean the room. I was told that housekeeping will clean the room so far "Do not disturb sign is not placed on the door". The sign was never placed on the door and the room was never cleaned. I was upset with dirty towels on the floor all day and the hotel food was terrible as well.

Felt like being on an island.

Loved the decor and the vibe. It felt like being on an island resort. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Music at the tiki bar was amazing. Gorgeous hotel. Will definitly go back

Liked the outdoor bar

I was disappointed that we had a street-side room. In our booking process, this was not noted. We had a terrible view and the garbage trucks pulled in very early to empty the 5 huge dumpsters. Uggg. Also, there were no computers available to check email. We were told to go down the street to the Sheraton. Really. This should be a standard accomodation in a luxury hotel. There was no shuttle service to the airport which I would expect to a hotel of this quality.

Overpriced, anything you might need is in addition to room price. front desk not helpful at all.

One of the Greatest Places on Earth

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon in the middle of June 09. It was one of the most enjoyable trips we have ever had. The hotel staff were fantastic and the concierage desk was incrediable. They helpd us go para-sailing and jet skiing. They also gave us other fun idea’s on what we could. The room was very clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to return with our entire family next year.

best room ever

this was easily the best accomadations i have ever stayed and i have travelled quite a bit. the rooms were clean and updated and plenty of living space, kitchette, etc. some of the hidden fees were a first for me, but we would definitely go there again.

Great place to stay

I would go back to this hotel again. It was very clean and beautifully decorated. We had a couple of special requests of the staff and they responded in a very timely manner. The parking was great. We had breakfast in the cafe, which was very good. We wanted to eat at the outdoor bar, but our weather did not cooperate with our plans.

Don’t waste your money

My fiancé and I stayed there as a last minute option and were very disappointed. The hotel is "OK" but did nothing to live up to its luxurious claim. When we first checked-in we were given a room that smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. We went back down to change rooms and when I inquired as to the hotel’s non-smoking policy the concierge said that it is non-smoking but some people do anyways. After we got settled into our new room I noticed ash trays. Quite peculiar if you ask me. Also, there is absolutely no privacy on the partial view balconies. Your neighbor on the rights hotel window looks directly into your balcony. And your window looks into the person on the left, very strange. I would not stay there again. Choose a hotel chain you trust.

Definitely check the weather. We went for a marathon in March and it was incredibly cold. The wind is very strong and there was nothing to do. Going in the off season is not worth it.

The Ocean Beach Club is a very nice resort. We were very pleased and look forward to going back again.

Couldn’t have picked a better hotel

This hotel was perfect. We had a suite which was very spacious and perfect for 4 people. Being right by the beach was wonderful. And everything we needed was in walking distance. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I am definitly coming back to this hotel!!!

TOTALLY WORTH IT

THE ROOM WAS CLEAN, WELL FURNISHED, AND ALTHOUGH YOU WERE ALLOWED TO SMOKE IN THE ROOMS, THEY DIDNT HAVE THE OFFENSIVE ODOR. THE KITCHEN GAVE SERVICE FOR 4 AND WAS WELL EQUIPPED WITH COOKING ESSENTIALS. THE ONLY COMPLAINTS I HAVE ARE MINOR. THEY CHARGE YOU A $1 PER NIGHT SAFE FEE WHETHER YOU USE THE SAFE OR NOT, AND THE STAFF WERE A LITTLE SLOW AT BRINGING EXTRA TOWELS SO WE COULD SHOWER. OTHERWISE THE STAY WAS WELL WORTH IT. CLOSE TO EVERYTHING.

Beauty in virginia beach

The place was amazing! We has a beautiful ocean view room. The room,living area, kitchen and bath were all very roomy and beautifully decorated!

Catch 31 and Casbys Grill,which were both within walking distance of the ocean beach club, had wonderful food!

Don’t pass this hotel up

The Ocean Beach Club exceeded any and all expectations we had. We were blown away when we saw our suite. The only bad thing we could say is that breakfast is not available until 8am and is expensive for a continental breakfast. We found a great diner across the street and down the strip a block that we better than anything the hotel could muster up anyway. We would definitely stay there again.

Avoid Catch 51. It’s extremely overpriced for dinner. The Pocahontas Waffle House is your best bet for breakfast.

Hotel has signs of "no smoking environment" However the room smells really nasty from cigarette smoke.

Great Place to Stay

I would definately stay here whenever I go back. Eveything was very clean. The workers were all very polite and always asked if I needed anything or just told you to have a good day. Food was very good at the tiki bar. Also a nice beach area out from the hotel.

The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. I was able to check in early with no hassle. Everyone gave shining star service. Staff members were constantly working on maintaining a perfect vacation in environment. The rooms were clean and decorated with vibrant colors. Loved my stay. I will definetly go back again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Reserve in advance. We probably needed a two bedroom suite as opposed to one bedroom suite. We unfortunately booked to room at the last minute.

Great hotel, will be even better when its finished!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while on vacation at VA Beach. The hotel was exactly what I wanted. It was wonderful to have the beach only steps away while still having all of the comforts of home (jacuzzi, granite countertops, flat screen tv). The layout of the suite was perfect for the 2 of us. We had enough room to do our own stuff and never felt cramped. The kitchen was just right for making quick breakfasts and reheating leftovers. It had everything that we needed and tons of stuff that we didn’t even use (including a blender). The L-shaped sofa in the living room is super comfortable and it was nice to lay head-to-head with my hubby. While the bed is probably a little smaller than a queen we had no problem at all with it (and we are use to a king-sized bed) It was extremely comfortable and there were several different types of pillows to choose from. The bathroom was spacious and clean. We loved the modern, upscale feeling of the rooms. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a more luxurious place to stay. Although the indoor pool and other ammenities weren’t completed when we stayed here I’m sure that they will make the hotel an even nicer place to stay. Since we visited in the off-season the outdoor pool was just fine because there weren’t a lot of people trying to use it at once (it is a little smaller than some hotel pools). The outdoor pool is right on the beach and is so relaxing.

If you are trying to save a little money eat at the Pi-zzeria. You can order a second pizza to go while you’re eating your’s for 1/2 price. Take it to your room and put it in the fridge for lunch the next day. Also, their happy hour (I believe from 2-4) has great drink specials!

Nice resort, plan to use on next trip

Nice, clean resort with lots of friendly staff members. The room was wonderful with a partial view of the beach. The staff was friendly and very helpful with questions. The only thing I didn’t like was the sales pitch for the time-share.

Great for kids!!

Great hotel right on the beach. Comes with dishes etc...great for long term stays. Lovely hotel.
