If you like B&Bs, this is the place
My wife and I stayed here for two days in February. While Becs bills itself as a "resort," its really a Bed and Breakfast. The resort is actually a large imaculate one story house overlooking the picturesque Marlborough wine growing valley. The house has 6 rooms, all well furnished with attached baths, but be forewarned - there are no TVs in the rooms (the only TV is in the shared living room) and the expectation is that you will interact with the other guests, something we were not prepared for, though we ended up meeting some very interesting and pleasent people from around the world. The proprieters (Leon and Aoeka - hes from Philly, shes from Sri Lanka) are extremly nice people and very helpful, but a bit overbearing at times. Overall, the accomodations were great, but it would have been nice to know the true nature of this place before going.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The town of Blenheim closes on Sunday. Literally - we went there (the day after their regional wine festival) to shop and look around and there were tumbleweeds blowing about. Take the 30 minute drive (or train) north to Picton instead - picturesque town on the bay, and you can take the ferry from there to the capital in Wellington, as well as other day excursions. Also, visit the Montana winery and pony up the A$300 for the winery tour and lunch for 2.
