Far better hotels in Queenstown
Yes, Queenstown is a tourist destination, but there are far better hotels. For less money too. The hotel was OK, but a hodge-podge of construction. Built into the side of a hill overlooking the lake, the room views were not all that good. The hotel seems to cater more to its apartments than its rooms and the room ergonomics weren’t that well designed. That said, the shower was terrific, and that’s the reason I gave the hotel a 4. If you don’t care about room ergonomics and do care about the shower, this is a good hotel.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Queenstown is the X-treme sports destination. If you want to bungee, white water raft, etc., then come to Queenstown. If tourist destinations aren’t your thing then Wanaka might suit you more. But note: If you want to go to Milford Sound (and you should!) you almost have to stay in Queenstown.

Peppers Beacon
Beautiful view outside of the window. Lovely bathroom with tub. However, the bathroom was not cleaned well during our stay and they did not change the sheets during our stay. The washer came out of the bathroom sink; I reported to the front desk and no one repaired it. I didn’t complain again since the faucet was useable. The continental breakfast wasn’t a worth the money.
