Something Different
This is a very nice hotel for adults. Quiet but very convenient to Interstate 270, a short drive to Metro, and its on a lake. The "lake is surrounded by lots of shops, restaurants, and entertainment that are right outside your door. If you like a high tech, this hotel is very well equipped to integrate your electronics with the flat screen in your room.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you do not have GPS, use a hotel map because you can see the hotel easily but access roads to it are tricky. There is a Target and a Barnes & Nobel within walking distance and a multiplex. Food service is a weak spot but you have so many choices outside the hotel that it does not matter. Great suburban base for DC sightseeing.

Overpriced and underserved
Bad experience overall... First, the good news: the hotel is close to Washington DC, has a nice view out the window if your window faces the pond, and doesnt charge for parking. The bad news: this is the first Mariott Ive stayed at that felt like a bad motel. Small room, no WiFi at all, a line of people downstairs waiting to use the two PCs that kept hanging, ridiculous Internet access fee (via the Ethernet cable), malfunctioning elevator, no daily paper, no breakfast, front desk manager that didnt even pretend to care. This isnt the Mariott I know.

R&R Evening
I made a specific request to have a view of the lake away from the highway and could not have been more satisfied. It was just the relaxation I was seeking and I didnt make it to the included breakfast as I slept in.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Next time Im gonna use the pool and hot tub as that was my original intention with the relaxation.
