Great room, bring money
Overall quality was outstanding. Centrally located downtown, within walking distance to the harbor, casino, and University. Staff was friendly and more than willing to satisfy requests. Smoking rooms are available, but they don’t smell like they’ve been inhabited by perennial chimneys. Internet was expensive, and if making anything other than a local call, make sure to monitor your time, as it adds up quickly. Also, don’t drink at the bar, easy to get an all-night bender-like bar tab with just a couple cocktails (you are within stumbling distance of several bars, so it’s a non-issue, really). Also, stay away from the mini-bar. Those nuts can add up.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Don’t order the burger from the restaurant. They put sweet pickles and some sort of tamarindo fruit on it. Which is weird. Do order the sandwich. They make a darn fine sandwich, in a land full of darn fine sandwiches.

3.5 star at best
The 5-star rating on this hotel is a joke. Based on prior reviews, we reserved this with low expectations, which they managed to disappoint nonetheless. Upon arrival, the 15-year-old looking rep behind the counter asked us in his best fake professional tone if we wanted a smoking or non-smoking room. I said smoking...two minutes of furious clicking later, he tells me that they only have smoking rooms available. Great service...raise expectations only to disappoint them. The room was smokey and lackluster...10-year-old TV, faux-classy bathroom. Generally a disappointing experience. Unless you’re planning on going to the casino and not remembering where you sleep, choose another hotel.

Great Hotel
I loved staying here. The cost equates the value and comfort that the hotel offers. Auckland is nice and I would definitely stay here again.
