"The best deal in Beijing"

I have been to Beijing many times and this is "the best deal in Beijing". The hotel is modern with outstanding, spacious, functional and well decorated rooms. The location is one of the best in downtown Beijing (if there is such a thing as "a downtown Beijing") at any rate, it is located at a short an enjoyable walk from Tian’anmen Square; it has a subway station, line 5, around the corner (anyone can figure out how to use the subway in Beijing, ask for a little map to the concierge); do not want to have breakfast at the hotel, which is excellent, just across the door there is a Starbuck (no need to cross the street); the quality of the hotel is 5 star but does not have the expensive "little mall" of Vuiton, Chanel, Cartier to be 5 stars and finally the people are great and extremely helpful.

One of the best choices in Beijing

The hotel staff are very friendly. They provide excellent services.

There are some good restaurants around the hotel area: Da Dong across street from the hotel provides the best peking duck; a couple of small restaurants on the side of the hotel provide some very good Hong Kong style food; take a taxi (about 6 min drive) from hotel to Chuan Jing Ban Canting which give you the best Sichuan spicy food.

exceeded expectations

We loved Park Plaza. At check in we asked for two connecting rooms. As an alternative we were offered a suit with a second room attached. This worked out perfectly as we were traveling with our two children. the service was outstanding. they arranged for a driver to take us to the Great Wall- which worked out perfectly. we were given recommendations for local restaurants. all of the recommendations were right on the mark. We had lunch at the hotels restaurant which was a mistake. It was overpriced, food was not great and they added a large service charge . The bar on the first floor also charged a service fee. Location was perfect. Highly recommend.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

ask hotel names of local restaurants that are not too expensive. we did and got great recommendations. we got rooms on the concierge floor and had great breakfast and enough food at happy hour to skip dinner. It is worth the extra charge.

Very impressive and not that expensive

The location is very good. Lots of expensive restaurants and shops in nearby, but lots of reasonably priced stuff too. There is a subway stop one block away (not well advertised by the hotel for some reason). The staff were friendly and spoke English well. Our suite was very nice, though the living area was a little dimly lit for my tastes. The only negative thing is that one morning we had a neighbor who had a very loud shouting match with his wife/girlfriend and we could hear it in the bedroom. I would stay here again if I get a chance to go back to Beijing.

Great Hotel to Stay in Beijing

We had a great stay. Very nice hotel. Good cable internet free access. Helpful staff. Only people to avoid are the ones that want to sell you tours, the bell boys can give you great information if the tours people are not around. Very close to the subway station 灯市口 Dengshikou. Great exchange rate.

Traveler's tip on dining

we stayed in the excutive suite so internet and all drinks and food was included. To save money on both that was a better deal.

5 star hotel without the razzamatzz

Absolutely deserves to be an Expedia recommended hotel. Friendly haven from the hustle & bustle. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Will definitely return.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Hire a bike and ride around the city - follow the locals and you’ll soon get the hang of avoiding cars. Saves time following the ring roads and you’ll see a side of Beijing which most Westerners will not.

Great hotel

Park Plaza is a really nice place to stay in Beijing. It is in a walking distance from Wangfujing area. The staff and service is great, the rooms are nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. We have opted for the suite upgrade with the executive lounge facilities and it was a good value.

Good location, nice Club floor

Three night stay in June 2009, booked two rooms, one for parents and one for wife and self. Parents room was Club floor. Smooth check-in, and good room facilities. Hotel seems to cater to both business and leisure, and is right next to the Regent Hotel. Main benefit is convenient location to most of the main sites in Beijing. Taxis are easy to get and hotel concierge/ doormen happy to hand out the hotel map/name on a card, for you to show when you want to return. Breakfast was included for both rooms and was a good mixed selection between Asian and Western food. Club level amenities were quite standard, with evening cocktail and snacks - though am told the snacks quality was a bit low. Overall, recommended as decent value for money on a leisure stay in Beijing.

The best hotel I ever stayed

This hotel located in the heart of Wangfujing; easy to get the subway system, and night market. Not to mention to visit the hostorical Beijing. The staff are professional and friendly. The price is reasonable. I feel very confortable to stay over there. If I were visit Beijing again, I will definitely stay there.

If you want to save some money. Try to get food outside the hotel. The wangfujing night market is just 10 min walking distance. There are many good restaurants near-by. Food are delicious and not expensive! Believe or not, the average breakfast cost me RMB 10 only, less than $2 US dollars.

Nice Hotel..

The Park Plaza was very nice located in a great area, very clean with high end shopping across the street. The staff was very accomodationg. In fact one of the concieres even took my husband to the bank and stayed with him while he converted chinese money back to us dollars. Because we didn’t speak Chinese, he explained everything to the bank staff for us. He even came back to the hotel to tell it would take 20 minutes then returned to stay with my husband. They were all very attentive and wanted to make sure our stay went well. We would stay again for sure

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Aside from shopping and other fancy hotels, I didn’t see attractions all that close to the Park Plaza. The Forbidden City is a long walk. Take a taxi there, it’s cheap. We rented a driver for the day (8 hrs) to take us to the Great Wall, and Olympic Birds Nest. Mr. Song (he speaks English) was his name and for 500 RMB he took us to several places plus gave us cold water all day ...free. Nice, clean, air conditioned vehicle

On Its Game

An extremely well-run establishment. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. The plumbing is without fault (not always true in China). The concierge desk is knowledgeable and helpful. Room internet connections are excellent. The room rates here are quite reasonable, but the hotel restaurant is expensive and just okay. Convenient location.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Be sure to carry the hotel’s map card with you, since the hotel is tucked behind larger buildings, and you’ll need it to direct taxi drivers.

Great value in Shanghai

We had a great stay. The breakfast is very expensive and the hotel is a little out of the way for most travelers. We we visiting our son at a local university so it was convinient for us. Transportation is relatively inexpensive so with a little time we were able to get to the city center easily. The staff was terrific

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

find somewhere else to eat breakfast

Awesome...A+++....Definitely return

Getting there. Best way is a taxi from PEK. Good chance the driver will not know where Park Plaza is so print out an overhead view of the city just before you leave for vacation and show the driver the location of the hotel. Price, about 80 RMB. To get around the city, the subway, which is less than 200 meters away or if you want to take the taxi, talk to the concierge first and they can write the destination in chinese for the taxi driver. I actually got used to the subway, pretty cheap at 2 RMB, but the taxi is cheap too. The concierge staff were very helpful in getting me tickets with greats seats to the Chaoyang theater with the dancing acrobats. I got used to the bar/lounge area on the 1st floor; happy hour is 150 RMB for all you can drink beer and a few others. One of the staff let me borrow her camera because I forgot my charger. It was really nice of her and the rest for their hospitality. Fitness center was great too. The staff there ensured that you have a fresh towel and a bottled water at all times. Overall all, a great stay for a reasonably priced hotel. The location is great too since Wangfujing night market is just 5 min walk away. I would definitely come back again.

Traveler's tip

Taxi from PEK to hotel. Peking duck at Grand Hyatt Scorpions, crickets, fried dumplings at the Wangfujing night market. Bus 919 to Badaling Great Wall. 12RMB only. Chaoyang Theater. Do the 380RMB. This will get you 3rd or 4th row seats. Tianmen sq, Forbidden city, Olympic Park. National Art Museum Departure: Take the subway express back to PEK if you dont mind lugging around your baggage in 2 or 3 stations. Price 25RMB. And you get a good view of the city from the elevated rail.
