Contemporary Japanese chic

We loved our recent stay at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto. From the moment you walk into the gorgeous lobby you know that you are in for a special stay. The staff are charming and helpful, in particular the concierge staff who were most helpful with bus passes and transport suggestions. The room was wonderful- very modern and extremely comfortable with lovely Japanese touches (the headboard) and an amazing bathroom- one of the best I have ever seen. The hotel just oozes chic- the lobby, the rooms, the spa, the food outlets. We did not eat in the hotel as there are so many wonderful restaurants in Kyoto- a look at the restaurants menus confirmed that they are very expensive. A cup of coffee in the restaurant one morning cost me 800 yen which is expensive by anyone’s standards! After a day’s sightseeing though it is great to come back to the Hyatt, a haven of peace and quiet and a very stylish place to base in Kyoto

I would definitley recommend visiting Japan in the autumn when the weather is really beautiful. I have been twice this time of the year and sightseeing is a real pleasure- it is sunny and bright and pleasantly warm during the day and cool in the evenings- perfect for wandering around and visiting all the temples.

exelent !

The service level at this hotel was many steps above What is familiar to us in Europe & USA and even few steps over other hotels (similar price level) in Japan that we staid during this vacation . it was exceptional ! The hotel location is very good . it is foot distance from the main shrines & Temples of Kyoto.

I traveled with my spouse and my 3 children So we had to order 2 rooms 1 regular room for me and my wife and one room for our 3 children (16) (14) (8) the room for the 3 people (2+1) was little bit more expensive but it was worth every sent . the room contained 2 beds one bed was King size (or even larger) and the second bed was Queen size . So the children accommodated very comfortably.

Not up to Tokyo standards

Hotel was clean, comfortable & pleasant but expensive, not really close to places for dinner or areas to explore. Concierge was overwhelmed and had little time to help with reservations or even suggestions. Rooms are small and bed is more like a futon. Waitstaff was exceptional! If I go back to Kyoto I would stay some where more central.
