Nice resort - Very good value
Overall our stay was good and I would go back. It was my birthday a few days before we arrived and our room was decorated for the occasion. It was a very nice touch. The food was good. Plenty of variety at the buffet. The service was great. The whole resort is very clean. They kept the fridge in our room well stocked. This is a very big resort. Its basically 3 resorts in one (Coba, Akumal, Tulum). You can use anything at the other resorts. They provide transportation to take you between the resorts and to the beach. I enjoyed walking on the beach checking out the other resorts. We did have a couple of issues while we were there, but nothing to ruin the trip. First, the temperature in the a la carte restaurants. We went to 3 and all of them were warm. Second, the rooms have thin walls. We had a family with a small child in the room next to ours. We could hear the crying pretty clearly. We were lucky. Most of the time, we were awake. Tip: bring mosquito spray. You need it at night.

Generaly Ok
This were our second time in Coba. First time was better. Air codition works bad in our room. I alway keep it on Max speed and lowest temperature and still it wasnt cold enaugh, because out side was about 95. Room was clean, no complains. If you need safe you have to pay $5 daily (which we didnt in our first time). We didnt have our sleepers and robes untill came to front desk and asked. Mini bar they refill every two days, but it almost empty. The food was so so. Buffets dont have air conditioners. So it was little hot inside. We like "Arlekino" restaurant. Mercado is OK. If you plan to visit Le Gourmet restaurant, expect to spend there at list two hours. Portions are so small. We wait our meal more then hour. On desert, we ordered ice cream, we left restaurant after 20 minuts without our desert, we tired to wait for it. Beach is nice. We liked Akumal/coba beaches. Generaly ok.

Nice place, but.....
The hotel was very nice, grounds very well kept with hotel workers always very busy to keep it clean and well groomed. The room was nice, about what I expected, what I didnt expect was not to be able to make it as cool as I would have liked. The air conditioning is controlled to about 75 degrees and you cant make it any cooler. The outdoor temp was in the 90s so it was hard to fall asleep because the room did not feel much cooler. The maid didnt come the first full day we were there, when I called the front desk the man who answered the phone kept calling me "lady" telling me he couldnt understand me. I felt the hotel workers made very little attempt to understand English, and it made it difficult to communicate. The food was so so , with only one outstanding meal at one of the a la carte restaurants, Le Gourmet. The area where the hotel is located is desolate, but if you are only planning on staying at the resort it is adequate, beach was very nice, but a bit rocky.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
We took the local transportation, the collectivo, off site one day. No trouble at all and very cheap. Took us to Playa Del Carmen to go shopping. The driver was very helpful, dropping us off, and letting us know where he would pick us back it. I didnt price a taxi, as I had heard about the collectivo, would use again.
