Good Choice in Milan

My wife and I were very pleased with this hotel. The room was moderate size, but very well laid out so we quite comfortable. The furniture was built-in and of unusually high quality (marble, solid wood, etc). The free internet set-up easily and was fast. The breakfast (included) was above average. The staff was business-like (no forced attempts at ’friendliness’) and efficient.

Nice place. Nice service.

We got excellent service from the front desk. Nice spacious room. Undergoing renovation (July 2009) - so will be much improved in a few weeks.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Walking distance to Dumo.

excellent Location and quality..

Brunelleschi could use a face lift in the rooms...ie..tv’s...they have tube tv’s that are 20years old...bathrooms although clean a bit dated...this is the 4th time i stay there and am very happy..mostly cause of the location...they have an extremely good complimentary breakfast that could serve as a brunch for anyone..plenty of food. i found the front desk to be nice people...although i didn’t really need anything. don’t eat in the hotel restaurant. food is lousy and prices high. Ask for a room not facing street...cause you’ll start hearing traffic in the AM and also during the night if you are a light sleeper. the prices vary tremendously by season...i recommend you keep checking on expedia till the week before your trip cause they keep lowering the price based on the hotel’s fill up....i was able to reduce my cost by 40% by keep on checking and they have a liberal cancellation policy.Anyway, its a great hotel..i strongly recommend it.

Traveler's tip on dining

all the restaurants in the Duomo area are very Turisty with low quality food...and high prices..they just love to stick it to the turist and think they can outsmart us. like a scoop of Gelato in the duomo piazza for 3 euro’s which is almost three dollars at today’s exchange. Totally absurd!!.Go out of the duomo area if you can walk to try to find some reasonable places. good luck

A reasonable solution in the center of Milan

Although we were rather satisfied with the services offered. When we arrived, they gave us a room rather gloomy, bably maintened (wallpaper, chairs, bathroom)etc, generally this room was not characteristic of a 4-star hotel!!! We asked for a better room & the 2nd one, was OK. Bare in mind that it was the 2nd time I chose to stay in this hotel during my visit to Milan (usually I visit Milan every spring for 5 nights every time). On my 2008 visit (booked through Expedia in the name of a friend)the services were excellent.

Good Location

we picked this hotel because of its location to the Duomo and shopping. The room was satisfactory, although dated. Hotel staff helpful and the included breakfast is excellent, the best we have seen at any European hotel. we will definitely stay at the Brunelleschi again.

Traveler's tip on shopping

hit the shops around via Dante before the Duomo area. there are many smaller stores on the side streets, better values. Also, the restaurants are great in that area.

Great Hotel in a Great Location

The staff were all multi-lingual, very friendly and happy to be helpful. There’s a Tren Italia ticket office across the street and a hair salon (perfect for sprucing up for a night of opera at La Scala or out on the town.) Hotel Brunelleschi is very close to the subway and streetcars and is super near in walking distance to Il Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in the Piazza Duomo (reputed to be the world’s oldest shopping mall), and La Scala (reputed to be the most famous and beautiful opera house in the world). Also a close walk to Castello Sforzesco, another Milan "must see". The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are comfortable and have free wi-fi for esy internet access and there is a nice international clientele staying there that make a delicious breakfast time more charming.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Ask at the desk what are the best "things to do" ~ recent activities, festivals or events.

Loved the Hotel and we would stay there again!

After reading some reviews of this hotel I was hesitant about staying there. I was pleasantly surprised at the modern beautiful large room we had. The bathroom was amazing with a beautiful spa tub that I took full advantage of. The location is fantastic, a 2 minute walk to the Duomo and shopping. The breakfast was extensive and dinner was delicious. I found the staff to be nothing but friendly and accommodating. This is not a luxury hotel but I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Excellent Location; Wonderful deluxe room

This was a centrally located hotel, two minutes from the Duomo, close to two underground stops and other tram stops. A multitude of good restaurants were in walking distance and till about 10pm it is a very happening area. After 10pm it all went dead - great for families with kids that go to bed early.

We had a 14-month old and wanted a centrally-located hotel in case we needed to go to the hotel for a quick rest. We booked a deluxe room which had ample space for our baby to run around and not feel constained. Need to plan and buy water early. God forbid you need water after 8pm - you will pay for it dearly.

If you are used to 4 stars hotel this is not the one to stay.

Thank God we stayed there just for a day, the staff were not friendly at all, the rooms were dirty and dark. The shower faucet was oxidazed, tiles in there were dirty. To me it should be just 2 stars hotel.

July 2008

From the very helpful man who parked our car for us to the lovely breakfast buffet, the Hotel Brunelleschi was a welcome oasis after a long day of travel from the US midwest to Milan! We definitely plan on returning to beautiful Milan for a longer stay and will stay at the Brunelleschi. The hotel included such benefits as an in-room safe (big enough for a lap-top) as well as a terrific central location. Not all European hotels are comfortably air-conditioned in the heat of the summer, but the Brunelleschi was very comfortable in this regard.

Great hotel at great price

This is a luxury business-class hotel with full business services (not that we, as leisure travelers, needed them). Clean, well-appointed and spacious (with a huge bathroom). It is only a few minutes from the Duomo and La Scala and is readily accessible to Milan’s public transportation system.

Traveler's tip on dining

There weren’t a lot of restaurants open in the area in the evening, but the one we found, Ristorante da Bruno, Via gonzaga, 6, just around the corner, was fabulous.

Very pleased

Very pleased with the hotel, courteous service, clean rooms. Breakfast was very good, and you can’t beat the location next to the Duomo. The only downside was that there was some very noisy construction going on in some of the rooms, and I had to call the front desk to have it stopped.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

It is very hard to find a cab in Milan outside of the main areas, plan accordingly. Also, the train from the Malpensa airport is great. Runs every half hour, is only EU 11 one way and takes only 40 minutes to get to the main train station.

Good location but a bit stuffy

This hotel strikes you as elegant upon entering it. Staff is helpful but cold. We changed rooms because our first night the AC blower clicked loudly all night long; the air was damp and definitely not cool. Our second room was much better - smaller but comfortable and nicely appointed. Generally, a good place to stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Walking distance to the Duomo, the famous gallery of designer boutiques and La Scala.

poor service, no non smoking rooms, poor parking

Stopped to ask where to park and was directed to underground parking two blocks away by bellman. We walked late at night carrying 3 bags each back to the hotel. Then the bellman wanted to take our luggage the last 20 steps so he could claim his tip. Asked for nonsmoking room and was told the hotel does not distinguish between smoking and non smoking rooms. If we got to our room and it smelled we could request to be changed. It was 10pm at night and we were exhausted. When I gave my passports we were told we could come back in 5 minutes to collect them? I stated I would just wait as I was not going to my room and then turning around to come back and get my passports. The front desk staff was COLD and I felt like I was bothering them. Room was noisy. When the surrounding rooms opened or closed their electric blinds it woke us up. Dont expect service from this hotel. The staff is not helpful at all. One exception to this was the hotel breakfast was good and the staff there were pleasent.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

For leisure travel, 3 hours in Milan is enough. I found the city to be dirty, overpriced and not much to see or do. Time would be much better spent in the Lake district or Tuscany.
