Great location, reasonable comfort

Great location, short walk to Gare Centrale, metro, Grand Place, Musuems, etc. Staff is fairly indifferent, but still do their jobs. Can’t comment on the outrageously expensive breakfast, but there is a great waffle/pastry place right down the street, so have your Euro 9. Nice little convenience market on the corner. Would stay there again.

Not bad, but noisy and not quite clean

First, the good: the hotel is very close to the Central station, so is easily reachable from the airport, and is also very close to the Grand Place and many of the other sights in central Brussels. The price on the weekend (when I stayed) is reasonable, the staff speaks English well, and there are a number of English-language channels available on the TV. Now, for the bad: first, the location of the hotel, or maybe just of my room, made it quite noisy, with people carrying on well into the night. Even at 2 or 3 in the morning, I could still clearly hear people outside. If you are looking for a quiet location, this apparently isn’t it. Second, although most of the room was very clean, the separate room with the toilet (the bath and sink are in another room -- the toilet is in a room of its own) had a very strong curry-like smell, which I’m assuming was some sort of mold. Third, although I requested a non-smoking room, I did not receive one, although the room fortunately did not have a strong smell of smoke.

Great location!

My husband and I visited Brussels in May 2007. The Alma Grand Place was the perfect place to stay. Check-in was easy, and the staff was very helpful. They all spoke English and were very willing to answer questions or fill our requests. The hotel’s location was perfect - close to all the sights and many restaurants. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated. One word of caution: our room faced the street, and it got a little noisy at night. If you are a light sleeper, request a room facing the courtyard. Breakfast was included. It was plentiful, with good variety, though the coffee left something to be desired. The only negative comment I have about the hotel was that you were supposed to leave the key at the front desk every time you left the hotel. This became frustrating when we needed to go up to the room for a second to get something and were left waiting at the desk for 10 minutes while someone was checking in. Other than that, we had a delightful stay.
