Good hotel for family

The room was very spacious and clean although there was a strong smell of some kind of cleaning fluid on entry. The kitchen was very well equipped. We used the pool (heavy on the chlorine) and the basketball court. The location was good (near the colleges we were visiting and Six Flags).

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We ran the Ashley Reservoir Loop (accessible from the Elks Club parking lot). This is about .5 miles from the hotel, so you can run to it or drive and park. Beautiful, quiet, runners/walkers and birds only!

Nice rooms - uncomfortable furniture

The rooms in this hotel were very nice and spacious. The bedroom/bathroom area was separated from the main living area by a door that closes which is great when traveling with kids. The room included a fully equipped kitchen (but we didn’t end up using that). The location was also very nice - within 1/4 mile or so of the holyoke mall with easy access to the highway. Even being so close to the highway, I could not hear any traffic noise from inside the building. The biggest problem was that the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The first two nights, I woke up in pain. The third night, I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed (which was also uncomfortable, but better than the bed). The pool area was very nice with a sizeable swimming area and a separate hot tub. The exercise room looked nice as well, but we didn’t use it at all. The breakfast service was dreadful (though the rest of the hotel staff was quite pleasant). Breakfast was a simple buffet, but the cooked food was not good (e.g., crunchy pancakes). The toast and cereal was fine (it’s kind of hard to mess that up), but there was not enough food available for the number of guests.

good place to stay

We stayed at Homewood Suites on a recent trip to visit my daughter at college. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was decent. The pool area was nice.
