Great Location

The bed was a little hard, but everything else was wonderful. The free breakfast was filling. The location could not have been better. The main metro/train station was just across the street and made getting around Rome a breeze. There were also plenty of good places to eat and shop within walking distance.

Loved it

The hotel was very modern & clean. The entire staff, except for one individual, was very helpful. Simone was the best - lots of honest, local insight. We really enjoyed the breakfast, which offered a wide variety of items. A common complaint about European hotel rooms is that they are small. Hotel Diocleziano is no exception, but it did not detract from our stay. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. It is close to most sites, & close to Termini, so you can take a train, bus, or metro elsewhere. The only warning I would give is to avoid the Greenline Tours that are advertised at the front desk. We took the one-day trip to Naples/Pompei, & would not recommend it. Everything else was great!

Mi Famiglia, right down the street from Hotel Diocleziano, is a must!

Best trip we have ever taken

The hotel was absolutely fabulous it is in a great location with inexpensive resturants nearby. We were able to walk to all the sites such as the spanish steps, colosseum, etc from the hotel! We only needed a bus to the vatican city which was super cheap. The breakfast was satisfying and the room was spacious and extremely clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. Utilizie the free mini bar because it will save you a ton or euro on drinks!

good hotel next to roma termini

the hotel was very clean, the room was small but very comfortable. the bathroom shower was tiny - but the bathroom floors were heated! a great hotel next to Roma Termini if you want to be close to the train station for an early departure. otherwise the neighborhood wasn’t that great.

It is a good place to stay

The hotel is relatively new (about 6 years old, if I am not wrong) so the condition is good except for the TV set which is a cathode ray tube (CRT) one. Room space is kind of small, just fits in a king size bed. We booked it through Expedia.com which was cheaper than booking with the hotel directly. In terms of price-performance ratio, it is not that great. The breakfast was good and free soft drinks were also provided in the mini bar. Location is convenient with a walking distance to the Central Railway Station and Metro stations.

nice, simple, clean, friendly hotel

the hotel is cute, simple, has incredibly friendly and competent staff. Their english is good so if you’re italian is not great it is still easy to communicate. The rooms are clean, bathroom is spacious. breakfast is included and expansive. they have free internet. the workout room is adequate and pretty good for a hotel gym. there isn’t a restaraunt outside of breakfast times but there are plenty right out the front door. the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station. as all major city train stations go, it’s not the best neighborhood, but it is pretty well located to a lot in the city but if you want to be in the heart of the tourist areas, you should stay elsewhere. it still felt safe but just a little more remote.

Near Termini station, love the free mini bar

Great hotel. Needs softer beds though. Next to the main subway and train station where you can get to anywhere fast. They stuck us in a room on the main floor next to the reception with no view but we still liked it.

Nice Hotel, Great Location

This hotel was in close walking distance from the Termini station and therefore VERY convenient to get to all places around Rome via the Metro or the train or just walking. They were extremely helpful at the hotel, spoke very good English (our Italian is not the best), and they had an awesome breakfast that was included every morning. The staff in the breakfast room was also very courteous and helpful. They arranged for a private car to take us to the airport on the morning we left for a very reasonable price.

Traveler's tip on dining

Make sure you go to Piazza Navone and try the Tartufo (death by chocolate) at one of the ice cream places right across from the fountain. Totally awesome!! We went back two more times while we were in Rome.

Not Impressed

The room was comfortable and clean but it needs renovating. The TV was not working properly but the staff had that fixed immediately. The rate includes free mini bar which had about four beverages but there was no orange juice, coca cola, sprite, alcohol or snacks included. The only thing drinkable was water. The breakfast was also included but that was terrible. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, they were friendly and very helpful.

Awesome hotel

We loved the service and the breakfast. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side but very modern and comfortable. We had internet for just 5 euros a day - very cheap when compared to other hotels we stayed in Italy. It even has a mini gym and a sauna with a bathroom attached to the gym. The hotel is two minutes away from the Termini - by walk that is. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice, clean, and convenient

Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel. It is in a good location; about a 5 minute walk from Termini Station where you can get transportation to all the major sights in Rome. The breakfast buffet was good and had a good selection. The staff speak English and were very helpful. Of course, the bed was a bit hard and the room is not huge, but that is pretty standard for a European hotel. If you can’t handle that, then stay home. Maybe, this hotel won’t satisfy the fancy-pants, high-maintenance traveler. If you’re like me and you only need a room to sleep in when you’re not touring the city, then the Hotel Diocleziano is more than adequate.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

You can reach most of the major sights in Rome by using either the metro or the bus lines. There is not a lot of good eating near the hotel.

Very pleasantly surprised!

We really enjoyed our brief stay at the Hotel Diocleziano. Staff was attentive, but not obtrusive, and the room quiet, clean and comfortable. The free soft drinks in the minibar were a nice touch, and the breakfast was also a step up from the usual. It is very close to the train station, and reasonably easy to find. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Great Hotel

The staff was extremely helpful and spoke English and always available to assist. The hotel was just a 5 min walk from the train station. The location was very convenient to shopping and restaurants. The room was large by European standards. This hotel appeared to be newly renovated and was beautifully decorated. The hotel also had a weight room that included a steam room. The breakfast was great! It’s a great "home base" for touring Rome. We were extremely pleased with our stay there and would definitely stay there again.

Good value for the price

We enjoyed our stay; the location was very convenient, just a block from Termini station, and the neighborhood wasn’t bad at all in our experience. We saw just one homeless person. The hotel breakfast was especially great; lots of food, good variety, and not just a continental breakfast. There was scrambled eggs and sausage, plus much more.

Acceptable

The hotel is nearby the central station & 5 minutes walk so it is quite convenient from that perspective. The room is clean but the AC unit is weak in the summer heat. What surprised me the most was the room wasn’t cleaned on a daily basis so the towels/bed sheets were not changed after the 1st day. Perhaps this is a Italian standard as they may be used to cleaning their bodies with dirty towels etc. Hotel staff is friendly & courteous. Breakfast quality is acceptable - no hot food. If you’re in it for the convenience of it, this is the hotel to stay. The train is about 40 minutes from the FCO airport & costs 11 euro. Hotel is quite pricey - ~USD220 without internet service (down during my stay but will cost additioinal $$).

Highly recommended.

We were extremely pleased with Hotel Diocleziano. The staff spoke English, were very helpful and friendly. The English breakfast was excellent. The hotel location was convenient and within walking distance of the main train station and the hop on hop off bus starting location. The hotel was clean, quiet and the air conditioning worked well. Our room was big, the bathroom was large, the room was well lighted and included a fridge with free pop and water. The staff at the desk arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport. There were no extra service charges. I would highly recommend this hotel to travellers.

Nice Place To Hang Your Hat

I had a great experience in Rome and this hotel is located so close to the termini train & bus station that it made getting to and fro super easy. Also there is an excellent ristorante just 2 blocks down. If and when I return I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great staff. Great room

The staff was wonderful. Extremely helpful and fluent in English. The location was great. A few minutes from the Termini train station and Metro stop. We took the train or Metro everywhere and wasted no time getting from hotel to sights. The only negative was the urine scent wafting around you as you walked from Termini to hotel. Not their fault, but not the most pleasent thing.

Traveler's tip on dining

Ask the front desk for recommendations. We did and both times they sent to good places, reasonably priced. Stay away from Via Veneta unless you want to overspend hugely for dinner.

Not impressed

The hotel is nice but if we bring a lot of big luggage from/to Termini Stazione, the hotel is not too close to Termini Stazione. Surrounding the hotel, there are some smelly place. Overall, if we compare the price and benefit, it’s not value for money.

Traveler's tip

Don’t forget to try Pistachio gelato from San Crispino (near Trevi Fountain). It’s really nice.
